A bambi buck at about 20 yards about 4 years ago with my 243. Was good eating, his antlers were just little nubs.
It was last day, it was sunset and I had just spooked the big buck and was heading back to the car when I came upon the little guy up by the car.
The little guy saved the day for me.

A fork horn at about 50yds. Hit him right in the knee, seriously. He dropped in his tracks and was looking at me. I was all by myself with an obvious case of buck fever and didn't know what to do, so I shot him again and shut the lights out. He was pretty big for a fork horn tho, probably 200 lbs.

Here's my first buck. I was 13, shot it with a Model 94 30/30 from about 60 yards. Kind of a freaky thing but huge body. My dad was huffing and puffing dragging that thing back to the house while I toted the guns. One of my fondest memories. I felt like a king.

nice toban.
that reminds of my second and third deer. i got a nice deer when i was 13. about the same as yours, looks a little different though. apperenty i would have won the youth big buck contest no problem, everyone who saw it told me that. same as my third deer, they were both really nice, i wanted to mount my thrid deer(second buck) but the antlers broke at the skull.....

My first was a fawn...shot with a muzzle loader, at a distance of about 30 yards. I was happy with it at the time.

My first was at 12 years old. Spiker buck, muzzle loader shot through the neck at about 10 yards. It was initially about 25 yards away when I shot the first time and only the primer went off. I scrambled to get another primer on and the damn thing walked closer to take a look at what I was... tasty mistake on his part!
6" Spike buck with a borrowed 30-30.
Pulled the trigger and was on my feet running after it before the smoke cleared !! LOL

I was young then. A long time ago stocking the woods with my tight grip as to be ready and sharp to the task at hand for i was a rookie deer hunter. But wow was i thrilled to be in the woods that day . After many years running the forrest I was on my first big game hunt. After many years of hunting rabbits, birds and those wonderful varmints/preditors. finely I was really a young man. and ready for anything until it jumped up at my feet litterally. scared the _ _ _ _ out of me Ipulled my gun up 300 sav, lever action took a crack shot at him at 5yrds rear to front but it was still mine the time had come . wow what a great day. will never forget it. oh yah or my first cleaning of a gutt shot. Yes i did grow from this leaning curve. But still a great thrill in my youth as a young man.

First deer was in a swamp. I was standing post and all of a sudden a 2x2 buck was standing on the edge of the red willows staring straight at me about 60 yards away.
It took me about 2mins to get my gun up to my shoulder/eye and pull the trigger. He didn't move until the first shot. Jumped straight up into the air about 6ft and landed running. I remember reloading the 300sav lever and running at the same time, stopped and popped another at him.
20mins later, 20ft into the red willow he layed there. Cleaning, turns out a hit the heart both shots and basically demolished it. Cavity was full of blood. Perfect shots which was awesome considering the second one was about 75yards away while he was running. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Went hunting a couple more seasons but haven't been successful beyond the odd doe. Now that I live in Gillam not much deer hunting happens. I will be taking some time in the fall for waterfowl, but I think I will put deer hunting on the back burner. Plenty of moose and caribou to keep me busy this winter.

My first deer was a little buck about 5 years ago... My dad and uncle were just entering the bush about 1/2 mile away to push towards me and I was on the other end getting ready to post... Well as I'm getting my gloves on... I see something move, so I look up and there 's this buck coming out of a trail about 75 yards away, slowly I grab my marlin 30-30 and bang... got him in the backbone with open sights... he jumped up and then his rear legs fell to the ground, so I finished him with a second shot... Man I was so pumped! Since then I've "crippled" a few deer on the first shot with that 30-30... Now my dad and brother have renamed it "The Crippler" or "The Dirty-Thirty" LOL
