Hello all
I just purchased an 80 gig iPod video. I am looking to burn some movie's to put on it but need ripping software. I have been online searching dvd to mp4 (Ipod requires mp4 for movies). Is there any one using any type of ripper software that they have found to work well. Any advice would be appreciated

Don't buy ripping software, find a copy of dvdshrink. Its freeware, and in my opinion, one of the best, easiest and most user-friendly ripping utilities out there. as far as converting to mp4, I would check out dvdrhelp.com. they have lots of guides, and links, to just about every piece of conversion software available.

Hey SD, your avatar says heavily medicated which I don't doubt, with "what" is the question though,
what about adding heavily lunched!
I hear about you guys at hydro, it's all over Winterpeg, the entire smorgasborg retaurant community cringes in fear wondering where you guys are going to eat each day.
To see the big dark shadows in the doorways just start the cooks a screaming for hours trying to keep up with the outflow of trays of food. That vast sucking sound of food being shovelled into the gaping maws of hydro mouths is a sight to behold. Should be on some outdoor show or something right up there with watching lions eat after dark ya know.
Can't wait to see you guys located right down town, you will certainly close the wagon wheel, juniors, and a few others. Oh don't forget the Chinese restaurant on the backside of the Chinese Pavillion, good pork soup, even the cops go there.
Life must be good now that you have Bake's share too.

I use DVD Shrink (free/share ware) or DVD Decrypter (free/share ware) to pull the video off and then use MediaCoder (free/share ware) to transcode it to whatever format I want. I use MediaCoder alot for pulling the audio out of the Sirius radio mpeg's that I record off Dishnetwork.
As far as guide sites go, check out vcdhelp.com (I think the latest incarnation is dvdrhelp.com, shows how long I've been playing with video files), or doom9.org. Doom9's got a pile of guides for ripping, converting, capturing, burning.

I use JeeperV6 version 5.1. Its definately free ware but I find it most useful at multi-tasking! Like when BF750 version 2007 crashes and needs to re-boot it automatically loads the back up file and extracts all unsaved information with griz 660 version TJD.
I think he used Warn 2.5 for all the heavy down loads and shovel 1.1 for lighter duty backups.
Otherwise it gets the job done! Rotflmao! :D
Sorry I couldn't resist!

Hey JeeperV6, this MediaCoder, can you use it to take specific portions of a DVD movie out, and edit? I want to take certain clips/scenes out of a DVD movie and use them or show them in another location.

For editing vobs, I either use one of the Tmpegenc products or DVD Video Wizard. MediaCoder is strictly a transcoder. Ie convert mp3 to flac/acc/etc or mpeg to avi or vob to avi or vob to mpeg4, etc. The Tmpegenc & DVD Video Wizard products are commercial, but if you're resourceful enough there are alternative methods to getting them.
