Only have a couple good rides on my commander tracks and as of yet have not hit any slush on the lake. Heading out doing some ice fishing this weekend and hear there is lots of slush out there. Was wondering from the guys who have had tracks longer what can I ecpect when I hit some. Do you go thru it o.k. should i avoid it or go looking for it???

Yeah tracks don't float too long!

Slush no prob but if you drop in to 1 foot deep slush or more then you might have trouble getting out. Camo hit some deep stuff, head light deep I think but he poped out at the other end...

He can elabourate....

I have never hit deep slush on the tracks yet, but I certainly could see what you describe happening for sure.

Seems like anytime you get stuck/ hung up with tracks, it's going to take a lot longer to get out!

I have hit deep slush in a field, if you go to fast you will get ahead of the slush wave and get back on top and then spin down and when the slush wave catches up to you, you get hung up, lol. Its not to hard to get out though. This slush was about 3 feet deep, fun stuff forsure. I have hit some slush on a lake before but I was going full blast and only went in a little.

Tracks seem to handle slush well, just watch how the machine is handling it and learn how fast you can go or else you might be digging a little in very cold water.

Always carry a small shovel on your quad, I keep one in my rear box and a few scoops with it under the machine usually lets me get going again. Then you learn why you got stuck and it was usually from to much throttle.

Yeah I usually carry a shovel, its just that last time I went to the lake I threw it in the back of the truck and on my next ride forgot to grab it!!! BIG mistake!

Jeeper V6 had one so we were good to go but try digging snow through the tall grass and bull rushes. Makes it a lot harder.

Don't read this the wrong way these tracks go through increadible amounts of snow and with some finess you will not get stuck but the first mistake is to assume that you will never get stuck because you can and you will and when it happens be prepared for more than a 10 second pull from a buddy. Either have a shovel and dig just enough to get the weight of the bike back on the tracks or start winching and hope you have a good anchor!

Still working on my Pull Pal. It is coming along nicely. All Stainless steel, collaspable, strong, and corrosion resistant. Hope it works well???

The LaSalle's always got slushy spots. Too many warm spots in that river, it's been that way forever.

Rayc, read these threads. They have pics as well. BTW Welcome to trackshare. I have one of these anchors / shovel (pull-pal) and they work great.

I have hit slush with my tracks a number of times this year crossing lakes. it slows you down like you through out and anchor behind you. However, I have never been stuck in slush, I hit a big hole one time and was wide open across a lake. The slush slowed me right down, I was in high gear and I kept my thumb planted on the throttle , I thought I was done. It really surprised me when I started pushing a wave of slush up to my headlights. The height of my headlights when I have tracks on is about 3 1/2 maybe?? pretty high anyway. So in high gear I was pushing this slush and it just kept going and going until it finally poped out on harder snow. Since then I am not afraid of getting stuck in slush, just like a sled.. don't stop!!

Tracks are absolutely amazing.. I have put on about 1500km on my tracks this winter and yet to get stuck where I cannot back out. And trust me I have been in some pretty hairy predicaments with them lol. the last one I was on the edge of a rock face in about 4 feet of snow sideways , so steep that two tracks are in the air and I am pushed up against a tree. a couple manuvers to get dislodged from the tree and locked the front diff up and that thing pulled its way out and straight up the rock face.. I was AMAZED yet again (so where the people watching).

If you want to break trail, explorer the back country and enjoy the scenery tracks are the way to go. If you want to put 250miles on in a day then buy a sled.

I did the same thing in the creek behind my place last spring. My winch wouldn't budge me so I shoveled the snow from under the quad and drove away. I was actually impressed with how I was able to drive away. Just drove slower and I was gone. It took me longer to walk the 400yds home in that crap than it did to actually shovel.
