It seems that Kawis and their love/hate relationship with water has found an innovative fix. Niel at Lakeway Marine will install a drain valve right in the belt housing to drain the bad stuff out. I'm taking my Prairie 700 in this week, and I will let you know how it works-out.
The 2004 BF-750s have a rubber drain plug built right into them, great idea, just pop out the plug and out come the water!

Anyway I'm really hoping the fix for the housing & the badly slipping belt will be covered under warranty. I consider this a design flaw.
Anyway, I'll keep you up-to-date.

The seal around the housing could be damaged, a new seal is cheap, around $10. Your supposed to change it every time the belt housing comes off, lol.

I wonder if the '04 and '05 Praire's have the drain plug? The V-Force does, I swapped belt housings today, got ride of that pesky engine braking system.

My old Praire never had a problem of water in the belt housing, only had it slip 3 times at most and I play in deep water.

The drain your getting installed will be very handy, you'll like it. Maybe we can snorkle your praire some day?? hehe

Yes; usually I don't have a prob with water getting in. Basically I have to be in deeper water for over 15-20 minutes and then sometimes I hear the belt slip. But I do think you're right, it does sound like the belt housing seal is leaking - slightly.

I'd like to snorkel the beast. I'm just waiting for the warranty to expire, then we'll get together. That way you can perfect the art of Snorkeling on your Brute Force first. Let me know how that's going.
I figure the air displacement from the snorkel must be equal (or close) to that of the OEM air filter. That's going to be hit'n miss. But when you do get it, I would imagne it would be a good idea to register a patent on it. I think it'll be worth something!

I had a boat drain plug installed, to get rid of the pesky wet stuff from the belt housing. It works very well, only takes a short period of time. I highly recommend it. The housing is much easier to drain with it!

Thanks Niel at Lakeway Marine for the suggestion!
Check the pics out.
