Computer has been acting goofy lately (more so than normal). Any ideas why I may be getting messages such as this;
Selecting Control Panel --> System --> Hardware --> Device Manager I get an error message reading, MMC requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed. I have IE 7 installed. I also get an error message similar to this when I attempt to update some software, the installer says I need Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater to continue. Should I role back my IE to an earlier version, or reinstall 7 to see if it fixes the problem?

Styrk, I had similar problems with IE7. I was told that it is ment for VISTA users, not XP Pro. I switched back to IE6, no more problems.

Get Mozilla Fire Fox and quit having problems altogether. Just remember your paying Bill Gates for all those head aches LOL

I don't use IE at all. I am a long time FireFox user. Apparently some software is set to use IE as a default browser. I would assume I was running a Beta version of IE7 and the programs did not recognize it (when opening, as well as updating). After going to the web site and getting the latest release of IE (which I still don't use, just installed and the registry components updated so that other software sees it and can utilize it if it has to) and all seems good so far.

It wasn't me trying to run IE and surf the web, I was attempting to open programs and was getting error messages returned to me saying that IE 5.0 or greater was required, then the program would shut down.
