Oh wow, I can't believe it. I used to live in Vernon back in 1976. I had bought a Okanogan back roads book for the area so that on the weekends we could go exploring, and that was the first trail (logging road) we took. Started the trail at the south end near Winfield and drove my poor Datsun up there exploring and discovered a lake with a fishing camp on it. Wow, we were impressed with our find and so spent the nite and fished the next day. Thought how cool it was that we found this way out of the way place and it only took a few hours of cool rough logging road driving to get there. Then we met this couple from Vernon up there who had to make a run back to town for something and lo and behold he was back in a flash. I was amazed at how he did it so fast as it took us several hours navigating the long rough road up to the lake. He looks at me and says well Vernon is only about 6 miles down that road as he points to a north bound road that led out of the camping area which was not marked in our backroads book. Here we thought we were way back in the boonies and it was going to take us several hours to get back to the highway.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, It was a blast.
