I hope these pictures help "grizzrider." Here is a picture of the 3 in to 2 in alumnium adapter I had machined to couple the boot to the hose. This is looking thru the left rear fender.

AWESOME!! Thanks Mudster. So..you ran the exhaust tube to the front, eh? Do you think that will have any negative effects with the air "flow thru" design? Did you run the tube out the top near the handle bars, or did u cut a hole thru the plastic somewheres? Thanks again, I downloaded the pix for later.
:thnx: GRR

The tranny exhaust rubber hose runs up beside the tranny intake, below the front black plastic piece under your front rack. I didn't have to cut any plastic.

:confused3 So then would'nt you just be dumping the hot air from your exhaust into your intake. Look that way to me.

Welcome Logan. That what I thought too, I know of 7 others,(locally) running it this way. None of us have suffered any ill effect from this modification, yet.

Hey Mudster let see a picture of that billet exhaust tip and how do you keep your quad so clean or were those pics taken when it was new.
Thanks
Mudster

No those pictures were taken when it was wet, otherwise it would look like a quad with 900 km's on it. :joker: Exhaust tip pic to follow. I do spend alot of time washing after rides.

Thanks.
I made one out of SS but I didn't do any mods to the pipe or jetting and I took it off, too loud. What is yours like did you drill the baffle? And did you re-jet?

I made mine out of aluminum. 2"

I have not drilled out the rear baffle and did not have to re-jet. I don't think it is that loud.

Where did you get it? I like the ball milling and the counter bores for the bolts. KEWL! Thanks kenny.
That is real nice.
Hey Chevy lover lets see yours, you made yours? Two pieces or one?
I made mine out of 1.5" SS tube and angled it down like factory. I'll try post a pic tonight, it is on the bench in the shop.

Hey mudster, have you checked your plug or are you just assuming that you don't need to rejet because my plug was completely white after going with a 1 3/4" tip! Thought I would mention it. Guys in the states always complain about Grizzlies being rich from the factory but what elevation are they at?

On that stead ride we were on together where you left for your wife's b-day it backfired and that is how I found it lean. It was the first ride with the endpipe.

03Grizz, I'll have a look next spring and do another plug chop. The Grizz is now officially hibernating. :o :thnx: :santa:

I'm sorry I don't understand "hibernating" is that some kind of performance mod ............ cuz it better not be what I think it is.
Ride all winter, we keep lots of trails open just by riding them. Hand warmers, a thumb warmer, and a windshield is all you need.
From the Illustrious words of a good friend ........ "Hammer down"!

A tip from MUDandDIRT.com on your exhaust snorkel
Flip the shifter linkage at the motor. This will space the linkage away from the motor more giving you more then an inch more clearance.

Whats the purpose of rerouting your rear snork to the fron if you are not going to fully snorkel them up and out of the plastic. Just wondering. Do you get any benifits from this.
John Cannon
04-07-2005, 11:32 PM
The snorkel does not come outside the plastic on the side. The snorkel is hidden until it comes out from the front. You really do not have to run it out of the plastic. One of the worst sides to a grizz is the location of the stock belt exhaust. If you rear rack goes under water the belt housing is taking in water and/or mud. If you route the exhaust side to the front you are less likely to take on water/mud..

Before I did this mod I drown the clutch 3 times, since I have done the mod the clutch has not been wet. Check out this piture, with ot rerunning the breather to the front this crossing would not be possible.

I know this is an ancient thread, but can anyone tell me where i could find some 2" hose for doing the belt exhaust on my Grizz?? I've checked Home Depot, and they don't know what i'm talking about, so i don't know what my next step would be. I definately want 2 inch for sufficient heat movement. I'm thinking that hose a few replies up that procomp posted would be what i'm looking for, except i don't know what it's called or where to look for it.
And Procomp, do you know where you got that pic of the airbox snorkel setup from? I want to know how you get that ducting attached to the airbox in that sort of slanted shape. And that black trim looks so factory styled, exactly what i'm looking to do.
Any help would be muchly appreciated......i have everything else ready, but don't have the ducting for the belt exhaust.
