I have some serious doubts about it harming the motor and the spark arrester is usually just a screen that really doesn't provide much back pressure at all. HMF makes a slip on for your 03 500. Good amount of power increase but its a lot louder too.

About $225.00 US. See if Vinnie at Excel Tire has an HMF supplier. Try ebay.
You'll need a main jet and a pilot jet as well. 42 or 45 pilot (some harely dealers have these) and a 155/160 keihn main jet or a 150/155 Dynojet.
If noise it not an issue, you can run a tractor pipe from Princess Auto Too.

Hmm, ya kind of lost me on that one. Isn't the spark arrester internal in the stock pipe? Pipe has one outlet so, what would you be welding a plug over?
Do you have the stock pipe apart?
here's a great resource for you as well - www.arcticchat.com

Well my neighbor has my old 03 with an HMF on it but I don't think he'll sell the stock muffler as he likes to keep everything. My 05 wont work.
You've got my curiousity up. May go have to look at his stock muffler or mine. If its running fine, weld it up just keep running it. Maybe call another dealer or two for a second opinion if you want.
There are no spark arresters in our HMFs.

well i finally figured it out its just a plug that is to blow carbon out of exhaust, dealer said it was stripped out but just looked as if it fell out, so i tapped it to 1/2 in and screwed a bolt in it worked fine,:sweatdrop:
