does it still turn over fine? did you put in fresh oil before the initial start? how did you check for spark and power to the coil? what are the "few things" that you already checked? sorry for questions insetead of answers. could be as simple as your coil is shot, or maby their is no power to the coil because the stator is shot or something else with your charging system. Not to sound like a dumb a$$, but is your kill switch off?
did some more checking no power at coil, traced wire back to cdi unit no breaks in that wire i did find a broken brakelight switch but don't no if that would have anythig to do with no spark but will replace that tomorrow

Just a suggestion, I had a problem a little while back that started off with the engine backfiring and bogging down, then it reached a point where it died. I checked everything and I found no power at the coil. I actually thought it was the coil and was going to replace it. Brought it in for warranty and it turned out that it was a seal for the crank position sensor. So it is possible that it is some sort of sensor malfunction. something to think about. Your dealer has the equipment to diagnose it.
