I am thinking about riding the trails this weekend around the cross-country trails east of Marchard in the Sandilands. Has anyone gone down the trails that are east of the road to the town of Sandilands and is there any snow left.
Did that area get more snow than Winnipeg?
It looks like a great weekend coming up.

I was down in Roseau last week and there was a lot of snow down that way. It was snowing the whole day we were there. I don't think any of it melted yet, but it will be soon. Should be a very wet ride.

I may go this weekend there also or I will go to Richer. One trail I need to explore while the ground is still frozen underneath so I don't sink. See what people say about Marchand though first. I think Ronin also was going that way this weekend.

A few of us were out in the sandilands area on Saturday that just passed and yes there was some snow out there to my surprise on the amount.
We went to the Ma & Pa shack and also to the Voyageur shack ( Damn Nice Shack) anyways there were a few diehard sledders out there riding also.

I live in S. Jct. and there is still some snow on the ground but not enough to prevent any quading. Melted pretty good today (Wed. Mar 11).

I live in Richer and that last dump we got was a good one as far as snow goes. Their is still bit on the ground but the rest of the week is suppose to be +7 (I think) right through so most of it will be gone. Either way, quading in the snow is fun!! No excuss not to get out!

I am actually gonna drive out there this afternoon and scout it out, I will post my findings. The Voyageur shack is awesome. I really hope that with it being on more of a main trail, it doesn't become victim to vandals this summer.

Well just got back, still a bit of snow on the trails. Seems like less closer to Sandilands on the 404, but as soon as you go past the campground on the 210 (across from bike parking) there seems to be more snow lingering the further south you go. Some are better then others but the 4x4 guys shouldn't have too many problems, and its not terribly wet. 2wd guys might want to wait a week. Watch out for the deers, they are out in droves. I must have seen 20 just diving down the 210 especially down by forestry road 17 near the twin set of powerlines.
And they have been doing some major clear cutting just north of the town of Sandilands so watch out for sharp logs and blind holes.
For the guys planning on staging out of Marchand, you should be alright. Its dry for the most part, but there are a couple of bogs along the way you may need to skirt around up to the campground. 1 km out is a big one and another at the big bend. Creeks didn't look high at all. Have fun, I'm gonna hold out til next weekend.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I think I'll hold off till next weekend. The forecast is for some nice warm weather this week which should get rid of more snow. Thanks again.

C'mon man thats no good, from the sounds of things, there is going to be 2 other groups riding this area tomorrow. The Ranger Station, The Park outside Marchand, The x Country Ski Trails, "that spot at the side of the highway" their all the same starting point.
It's a fun area with a variety of terrain. Lots of trail some mud, that can be avoided if you want.
I'm heading out tomorrow and whoever shows, shows. we can take it from there.
