Noise Coming From Belt Area???

HELLO TO ALL, WELL HAD MY QUAD OUT YESTERDAY AND STARTED HEARING SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE BELT WINING COMING FROM THAT AREA, SOUNDS ALMOST LIKE SOMETHING RUBBING IN THE COVER OR SOMETHING IN THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO EFFECT THE DRIVING BUT HEARD IT MORE UNDER TORK, IF YOU GIVE JOLT OF THROTTLE YOU CAN HERE IT IT KIND OF CREEKS ON SOMETHING BY THE SOUNDS OF IT BUT RODE ALL DAY WITH NO PROBLEMS, JUST NOISE KINDA WINES AT HIGH SPEED, OR RUBS???, ANY KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH BELT DRIVE ON THESE, 2003 ARCTIC CAT 500 AUTO, ANY INFO APPRECIATED, I WILL BE TAKING IT TO CHUDDS TOMORROW, JUST THOUGHT I'D CHECK HERE FIRST:sweatdrop:

Maybe check under the threads for Arctic Cat for something like it

There are not any common issues with the CAT belt system but all clutches need regular maintenance. Not sure how many miles on your quad but having the clutches serviced by a dealer if you can't do it yourself is probably not a bad idea.

yeah sounds like a good idea, i'm takin it to chudds , i sure hope its worth the drive from winnipeg, cause i'm not dealing with the wpg. dealer anymore:hammer:

well took it in today cleaned belt drive and clutches and still making rubbing or squeeling noise any ideas

Do you have a new or spare belt? Maybe swap it and see if it continues.

no i don't have a spare belt but chudds says it was good along with the clutchs, almost sounds like tranny prob cause in neutral revs fine, it also drives fine just weird noise

check that bearing in the clutch cover, put a screwdriver to it from the outside and listen and see if the noise is more pronounced from there.

GSG, Artic cat in Selkirk, is GREAT for service, Mark there Tec. has always
worked on cats and use to work in the factory, try them.

its in at chudds today to replace the bearing in the clutch cover, this should fix the problem, i'm hopin:angry-smiley-005: , its kinda annoying hearing it like that
