Just wondered if anyone with a yamaha quad has had any oil in the air box. My Kodiak had a fair amount in the air box and filter. Although it didn't look like it was coming out of the breather hose to the box. Just kinda bothers me because i hope i won't end up with total engine failure.
:thnx:

Hey Mckracker....I had that happen to me too, when I was breaking in my quad...was riding it really hard,( imagine that) with less than 50 kms on her...it was cool out...came home to check out things, put 100km's on it and found oil in my breather box....If you smell it, it will smell like diff fluild with friction modifier in it...Have no fear...Yamaha puts the rear diff vent tube right beside the air in take snout....Pressure probally built up in the diff or the tube was pluged alittle and she blew out...I talked to the dealer on this and they said it happens quite often....in some cases the factory has installed too much fluid and she just blows out under load(pressure)...

No fear, these things are built like a brick sh*t house, especially Yamaha's...

mine is dripping oil from the overflow tube onto the exhaust manifold after ridinga while I can smell burning oil all the time . rep said no worries , apparently all the fluids are measured bt c.c ,s and not by "bottom of filler hole" I think this is the problem with mine . I find out soon bought a service manual .

I used to have a yamaha bear Tracker and had the same problem with diff oil leaking out of the vent tubes. I was told the same thing as Loogin says, measured in cc's. They said let sort it's own level out and don't worry about it.

Re route your vent tubes keep them away from your airbox intake ? Solves the problem thats why they have a breather tube so they can bleed under high pressure such as Saturdays lake crossing!!!
