Just for info - the Free Press today had a story on a fire at Seddon's Corner, and the guy from the province was asking that folks in the southeastern part of the province not ride their ATV's until we get some rain. I don't think it's a ban with fines like last year but sounds like he's asking for people to voluntarily stop till it gets wetter.

Still pretty wet in the swamps around the Richer area. My bro and I went ridding yesterday and got lost in a couple nice mud holes. I'd say ridder beware. Some spots will still have the spring run off which i'll admit is alot drier then previous springs, and areas theat don't get run off are crazy dry. Be smart and know when and were to put the rubber down.

I heard it this morning also. Sure do need some moisture. awfully early in the year. I hope that includes dirt bikes also?

I think the ban is only not imposed because there is some rain in the forecast, if it doesn't add up to much it will be the same as last year. FYI it just started to rain about 10 minutes ago here...

As a firefighter who has been to wayyyy to many grass fires the last week... please do hold off on riding in bush areas until it rains. It is amazing how dry it is and the volly fire forces are being streched to the limit. I've had more hours firefighting that hours at my paying job on several days last week.:surrender:

I've resorted to doing rain dances - but I"m not a native guy and it doesn't seem to work.

what's a couple days of staying off the ORV's to keep Mother Nature is good order!

Hopefully we get some rain soon, and I mean a good DOWN POUR, not this dizzling crap.

Don't drive and smoke at the same time. I thought that would be a no brainer. Especially when it is this dry. Read about the Piney derby and see what happens.

One thing to think about is if you have done any mods to your exhaust, make sure you have a spark arrestor in it. Even if you just put it in for when it is really dry. Five extra horsepower isn't worth it if it causes a forest fire.

Now there is some responsible thinking.
Good for you.

To add a bit to Toxics thread, don't intentionally do any burning around your yards for those in the country. Most of the fires I've been to this spring have been intentionaly set for controled burns. The insulting part is when it's obvious how and where it started and the owner responds with" I didn't light it, I don't know how it got started.:hammer:
Burning barrels have also been bad, A friend of mine lost his utility shed full of bikes and had the siding melted off his house. the heat also cracked a window. It was caused by a aerosol can blowing up and sending sparks flying while the fire was unsupervised.
Anyways I'm getting a little off topic. The point I guess I'm making is to be careful with fire and it's causes no matter where you are.

Most of the fires we've attended here are from kids playing with fire.

Does anyone know what the current situation is regarding ATV riding around Seddon's, and for that matter the Southeastern part of the province? I know there has been some rain, but not much. I can't seem to find any official bans posted anywhere, so I thought I'd ask the Trackshare community. Thanks.

Three of us were up the Bloodvien winter road last week. Up to that point in time they had lots of rain..the road was just about impassable after about 10 kms. so we took the quads another 50 or so kms. When we got into the bush I would say there was no danger of forest fires.....seemed to be lots of water around. I can vouch that the swamps were full as well.

On a side note.......lots of chickens this year.....unbelievable amount.

As for conditions right now, I would say they are wetter than average...but thats just my opinion.

We have not had that much rain around here(Seddons area). Just that bit last weekend but not very much. So I would imagine the bush is still dry, but I have not heard anything about a ban.
