A buddy of mine mounted one on the front rack on his big red.If you don't have a rack ,I'm sure you could fab up some kind of rack for it.

My buddy only had trouble with his charging system ( even with the winch) only when he left his bar warmers on.The switch on the warmers was very sensitive so he would hit the switch by mistake .

Hey man nothing wrong with mounting it to the back...lots of guys do it. A little extra in the rear is not always a bad thing;)

As for your gas tank,
When I had my Big Red and got a leak in the tank I used some "JB weld" It was like two sticks of putty that you mixed together. I just cleaned the leak with a bit of fine sandpaper and applied to the leak. I didn't really think it would work so I didn't get fancy, well my sloppy job was still holding well when I sold the quad.

Does anyone have any pics of a winch mounted to the front end or i was thinking on the back and having it pointed down to the hitch and a pully on the hitch so the hitch would be the pulling point i need pics lol
