I bought the glacier plow system with a 54" V-plow just wondering what type of tires I should use for in the snow?

ATV Television (based out of Minneapolis) did a plow/tire comparison a while back. They liked the ITP 589's for plowing. Said they had a lot of traction when you got a full blade.
ATVTV & Dirtwheels have both spoken highly of the new ITP ATR radials. They both said the ATR's were excellent for plowing.
From my own experience with front end loaders, the radials are nicer riding, but usually aren't as good on the ice as a normal "bar type"loader tire. Whether this works in relation to an ATV is questionable.
Good luck on the tire search!

ATV Magazine said the MudLites were really good in the snow. I'll let you know as soon as we get some white stuff!

The Mudlites aren't bad in the snow. I had a set of 25" Mudlites on my Kodiak last winter. Didn't do much riding but the limited riding I did I had no complaints with them. On solid ice they aren't the best, but I don't really think there is anything great on solid ice unless you run studs.

My poll doesn't have the 589's or mudlites on it because I don't really want to buy another set of tires, these are the tires I have and just wanted to know what people would think would be the best out of the 4.

I think your should try them all this winter and then let all of us know how they did! :cool2:
Sort of like a snow plow tire review!!

A friend of mine plows his driveway with mudzillas, he can't really blow it because his driveway is too big for a walk behind but he pushes up snow banks 5ft high plus on a grizzly and 28's.
I don't plow but I couldn't believe the job he did. He also does his neighbours and the lady down the street and he helps out other friends with theirs so he is definately having fun.

Camo, I might just have to do that although I already took the mudzillas off, they were catching the fenders in reverse with the plow lifted. Gonna need to put the rangers springs on the front or put in a lift to run them. Have the mudbugs on right know, will see how they do once we get some snow.

I bought my quad at christmas time last yr, I went for a few rides with it, And I found that the mudlites worked just great , as long as your didn't spin them down and get hung up...It may be the fact of the center groove does not allow you to dig down quickly and bottom out, this is in snow that you sunk up to you knees in when you got off.... Thats my test "2 cents"

I got 27" Mudlites on my Grizzly and I love them. They are a farely smooth tire, and are just awesome in snow.

well I had 589 MT's on my 350.
On my Foreman i now have MudBugs
let me tell ya the power and weight is there, but the 589's kicked butt on the mudbugs for plowing. same plow
but the bugs are better for getting through deep snow when im playing.
the power comes into play as well, just hammer down and itll eat right through.
but for plowing 589 MT's are real nice!

why is everyone bringing back all these old posts lately? As for tires, I think I have said it before,
Snow = Mudzillas
Mud = Mudzillas
Sand = Mudzillas
dry trail = Mudzillas
water crossing = Mudzillas
breaking trails = Mudzillas
any size will do but 28's do it best! Swiller, since you have these tires already, through the rest away so you aren't temped to use them. A buddy was running 28 mudzillas on his 700 poo but kept breaking front axles and diff's. The dealer made him take them off to keep kis warranty. He switched to mudbugs. With the mudzilla's he could go just as good as the Grizzy's with mudzilla's. Now, well lets just say his winch gets alot of work.

seriously.. i don't think zillas would be worth anything on hard pack snow. not enough biteing edges (spelling?) i have strykers on my wifes quad and they are great consitering the weight of the quad..lots of edges,,the only thing goin for ya on a quad with zillas on hard pack is the weight of the machine. zillas are awsome but have there place.oops did i turn this into a battle ground?

hey straight pipe... ask the guys who rode this us... on march 5 ride... ask them how Zillas do on hard pack..... they Still through snow like you wouldn't believe :):) they really really do bite... in all conditions... but of course every tire has there use i guess...

No you didn't turn this into a battle ground, I wouldn't agree with every tire has there use just because some tires are garbage. How about all good tires have there place. In my experience the benefits of the zillas far outweigh any flaws. The only one I can actually think of is you need power to turn them, maybe that's why some people don't like them, not enough power. Opps now it will be a battle ground.

alright....this is going to go nowhere.the only way to find out for sure is to have a bike with a plow and try different tires on it.may the best tire for plowing win.but i'll agree with MMC that the best tire can't compete with trax...for plowing. bottom line is if you plow and you can do it with whatever you got ...there you go. this aint worth battling over.

I can't believe that many people think the "Zillas" are good in the snow.
Everyone I ever talked to hated them in the Snow.
Are you guys voting on experience or just what you want to buy?
Listen man, save your money, buy a good set of tires for riding the terrain you mostly do, and then buy some Snowmobile track screws for your OEM tires.
Screw them into the rubber lugs of your OEM tires, they'll give you enough traction to complete any plowing job.
Then in the summer pop on your aftermarkets and use the money you saved from buying MudZillas to fill up your car and take the wife out to dinner.

hey, i loved my Zillas in the snow..... sometimes they get you into trouble, when they dig you straight down in a snow drift... but other than that, i love my zillas.

Run the mudbugs backwards. You will be impressed. Try it next year.
