Our group went riding today to make some new trails, and Jasons 700 blew the front right axle right out of the joint while climbing a log.
This is a simple manouver, and I can't figure out why the axle would slip right out like that. It was a slow climb, everything was normal. I might understand if he hit it at high speeds, but nobody in their right mind would do that, unless they wanted the ATV to land on them.....lol:dong:
I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem like this?
Seems to me that it must be a manufacturing defect...it just shouldn't happen.
Any input?

Maybe the axle is held in by a snap ring, which may have broke or fell out????? If this happens, the axle could do what you said happened.

Alot of quads have shafts set up this way. :beer3: :beer3:

I had two CV joints go on me so far. The rubber boots worked loose letting in sand and dirty causing the CV joint to wear out prematurely. I would look at taking it in to the dealer for warranty! They are $550 a pop after all. My dealer replaced them both N/C, and they have been fine ever since. It did take a while for the parts to come in though. About three weeks. Let me know how the fix goes, I can give you the name of a really good dealer if you need someone to do the warranty work on it!

Well, Jason's ATV is covered under warranty, and will be ready for Friday.
Turns out that the axle has to be cripped in, and his showed no sign of a crip at all. That would explain why it just popped out.
It could have went anytime, during a wheelie or out in the swamp...just lucky it was while light bush pushing. Now the guys at Kawi are wondering if his was an isolated mistake, or was it a failing to a few models on the assembly line...only time will tell.

That's interesting as my dealer and I where both wondering the same thing. I think the retaining brackets on the original set of front axle CV boot covers where both not tight enough. It also could have been the rubber CV joint cover were both defective? It's hard to say but they both went at the same time in the same location. That points to bad installation at the factory or defective parts.

Yep, but atleast warranty is covering him, and if it wasn't I'd help him out....there's no way a new ride should come apart like that.
