does anyone have any pics of the disk brakes on the new rincon or the new foreman??? I'd be nice to see them with the wheels off. I'm thinking of trying to convert my 450 to disks in the front and by the way it looks it shouldn't be too hard. here's pic to show you what i mean.
i'd just like to see how honda set it up.
:thnx:

FYI the Rincon has drum brakes yet. It was the Rubicon and Foreman that got the disc brakes this year.

I have no pictures of the brakes but they look simular the the picture you posted, Just a little more factory looking.

i know highlifter wants too much. the one's shown are from another company but there still roughly the same price. I have all the tools here to make up my own set all I'll need is the brake calipers and the disks.
Hey vinnie do you know any one who makes disk brakes with the same bolt pattern as the 450 foreman 4/110. THe one shown is that pattern but it looks home made.
One more thing where do you work dealer/shop???? If you had a price on a disk and caliper for both sides I'd give you my buisness.
Thanks
Mike

$400.00 isn't too bad, but with the milling machine, the lathe and the welder we got here I can't see why i couldn't do it myself. I could probably make a disk myself except i wouldn't know what kind of steel to use. Pretty much all i need is the 2 disks and 2 calipers and some time. I apprechiate the input if I find what I need I'll give you a call for the order.
Oh yeah, dealer/shop????? don't know where you work.

Hey vinnie, any reason why I would need dual piston calipers????? why couldn't i use brake calipers from a 400ex and get my own disk made up?????? I know a 400ex disk wouldn't work because it's 3 bolt pattern. Also does anybody know the outside diameter and the width of a 400ex front disk. If i use the 400ex calipers I need to know what width to make my disk. I know this is a lot of info but up here in gillam my resources are limited.
Thanks guys and gals

....all I'll need is the brake calipers and the disks.
... do you know any one who makes disk brakes with the same bolt pattern as the 450 foreman 4/110.
Mike

The following bikes are all 4/110 bolt patterns:
Bombardier Traxter, Quest 650, Honda 300, 350, 400, 450 and 500. Suzuki Eiger 400, Vinson 500, King Quad 700. Yamaha 350, 400, 450, 600 and 660

I think honda is the only one that uses drums here so the rest of them will be disks

hope this helps

Have you given any thought as the the exact makeup of the steel you'll have to use for the disc? I can't see using a flat piece of steel...of ???? composition, working as a disc brake. I think you will have nothing but warping issues and headaches...If you need disc brakes then trade up machines or buy the engineered kit. Do you want to trust a homemade disc brake setup when riding the escers(spelling) up there??? I wouldn't!

My 2cents...I imagine I'll get some change back. Ride On :humbs:

I wouldn't make my own disks, that's forsure. I'd need to buy or find calipers off an old 400ex. The disk on the ex is 8" in diameters but it's a 3 bolt pattern. I'd have to make a mounting bracket for the disk and a mounting bracket for the caliper. Don't get me wrong this isn't going to be some back yard mechanic job where the weld's will be good enough until it brakes. I'm gonna make sure everything is done properly and is built strong. How do you think high lifter started. They got someone to make up a disk. (Wilwood Brakesand a calipers) and then they made up some brackets and some mounts and some spacers and they came up with a set of brakes. Look at the pieces in the picture above. Besides the caliper and the disk what is so hard about he rest.
