what are these bikes like, 2 or four stroke,

the 99 explorer 400 is a two stroke. very fast bike. make sure the previous owner did lots of maintenace especially changing the counterbalance oil. the 99 only has a chain in the rear so not much maintenace compared to the older ones with 3. the other thing to check is the front hubs. check and make sure there's oil in there. lots of expensive pieces in there. if theres play in the front bearings more than likely it will need a few parts.

I nave the same quad except it is a 2000. Were there any changes from 1999?
