First my beef:
Why is it that two of the biggest dealerships in the province are completely inept and have zero concept of customer service.
Even though I'd had previous bad luck with both a Polaris dealer and a Yamaha dealer who shall remain nameless since I'd rather not start a war, I figured, hey, what the heck, I'll give them one more shot.
I had two parts I needed, one for my Sportsman, one for my Yamaha boat. I called both above dealers & got the same BS story I & many of my friends/co-workers receive.
Nothing in stock, 3-5 business days to get, $20 to fly in.
We're not talking obscure stuff here either, an engine mount and a thermal switch.
Now to my bouquets; For the Yami, called Red River, she says no problem, parts will be here thursday, $6 freight.
For the Polaris, I call Sobetski, guess what, IN STOCK!
I am officially done with those two large dealerships.

Yup, sometimes the small ma and pa shops are better. I had the same thing happen to me a while back regarding price. Sobetski beat all other prices and I bought from them.

I don't even care about the price...I'm not going to nickel & dime someone to death, I just don't want it to seem like it's a chore to get something simple.
Either way, I'm done with those two.

That has been my way of thinking for years, and not just quads, cars, trucks, whatever. It usually is more than worth the trip.

Well hate to say it it's called we do it too. Usually over night to get but we don't have an expensive warehouse in every small sector. Don't get me wrong I do carry the 10 top moving parts in my car just can't carry everything. Nine times out of 10 it's fixed that day. On time inventory everybody does it to save money. You have to otherwise tomorrow you will be gone. I bet if you call Sobetskis next week he would not have it again and be in the same boat. He may have had it in stock because some one ordered it and never picked it up. Just my opinion.

Hey, don't get me wrong. I don't have a problem with waiting a couple of days. I had from today until friday as my window, that's when I head back to the lake. So 4 working days. I don't care where it is in the country, you can get anything overnight, anything from TO to EDM/CGY in 2 days on ground, Van in 3 days ground.
The problem is two fold, one, the big two are always 'busy' & two the guys on the phone couldn't tell a wheel cylinder from a spark plug.
I'll give major kudos to Red River especially. The woman there is a pleasure to deal with, always pleasant, to the point & actually has just enough knowledge to make me believe, even though I'm dealing with something that isn't very common here, it never seems to be a problem.
It's not just me. Even a co-worker with a 660 Grizzly hates the big guys. Only goes there because it's convenient.

Not stiring the pot here so I'll attempt to give you a non biased response. Polaris Warehouse is no longer in Canada. Delivery time is Three days from point of order. Most Dealers will & do order daily. No dealer, regardless of the line can carry every single part ! What you feel is a should be stocked part, may not be.
As for overnighting it, I've give you the real story why there's a problem. Polaris's Depot is not in a direct ship zone. So regardless of The Request for Air Shipment it's 2 working day's even on a Red Service request. Now this is to WPG, if the dealer is in the country you can add addition time.
Now a consumer wants a part rushed in on a Tuesday that is imperitive he / she have for Friday. Parts ordered, parts shipped, but the Third Party drops the ball. So now who's the bad guy?
Just stating the hesitant logic as to why you're not getting a no problem on the Over Night request.

Inventory is money sitting on the shelf, just like the local garage has no parts in house. Unlike the grocery store or gas station that can raise the price when there is an increase in the product. I know how you feel and it sucks. Just my opinion

no different than any other business. I'm in the construction industry and we do turn key projects for clients and if we could get products in within 1 week, we'd be laughing but the truth is nobody, and I mean nobody stocks product. You want flooring??? 4-6 weeks....windows???? 2 months......doors? 4 weeks......specialty lighting???? 6-8 weeks......steel building?????? 12 weeks.....and the list goes on so a few days for parts for a quad or outboard, no big deal if you ask me. Last week I needed U joints for my 06 Dodge diesel, you think any dealer in Winnipeg would have?? not a chance, had to wait 2 days for parts but what could I do?? no sense in getting upset over it, the parts don't get here any faster. Just be patient, dealers just can't stock everything and remember, the more attitude you give them, the longer you'll wait.

i love the fact i have friends in pretty much everymajor city. i can call any dealership or check inventorys and u can go to the airport and get pretty much anything put on a plane for 50$ rush shipping and its here same day. plus the ex gf is a steward to shes flying 325 days a year and shes more then happy to grab me anything i need.
p.s. i dont rely on dealerships to bring my parts in it takes to long.
Ok, so here's my beef: How about waiting a week to get touch up paint to match my '07 Tundra? Geez! It's only a $10 item. I remember when it was that the dealer (or maybe the manufacturer) would leave some touch-up paint in the glove box when you bought the vehicle. Let's see, a $10 tube of paint to keep your $50K truck looking good... Hmmmm... Never though I'd have a hard time getting that...

Holy s**t, talk about some of you missing the point.
The point wasn't the wait (if it's reasonable) or even the cost, it was the fact that the staff don't even seem willing to sell an item without it seeming like a major chore.
As I previously stated I had FOUR business days to work with. FOUR. Not one, not overnight, FOUR.
If you can't get something stocked in Canada within FOUR business days, you shouldn't be selling parts.
As for MrCouldn'tGetMy06DodgeU-jointsfor2days, my first question is why would you even call the dealer for those? Aside from the fact that you likely paid too much, you probably could have had them from a Spicer distributor overnight or same day from a jobber carrying Precision will stock.
Frt D/S - 331A (2) & 534G
Rear D/S - Auto - 330A (2) - Man - 351A (2)
And MrTundra, didn't they give you a bottle of touch up paint when you bought the truck? I know they gave me one for each my Rav4 & my wifes Yaris when I purchased those brand new.

An old saying says "You can't sell from an empty wagon".
I have some sympathy for wanderer. As a merchant, if you can't help or don't care, at least go through the motions and pretend you do.

holy crap man, take a chill pill......I wasn't even complaining about it, I was just pointing out that they didn't stock the parts, no big deal to me, and not too mention, it was under warranty, why would I get parts elsewhere???? who else would give me a Charger to drive for 2 days
that's the problem in this day and age, everyone wants everything yesterday
