Thought I'd post these to get my mind off quading for an hour or so.

Pics are from Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville Oregon and are a few of the Spruce Goose, SR71 Blackbird, Gemini Rocket Engine, and others.

Set you camera to take a lower quality image or you can just crop out the part of the picture you want everyone to see.

That spruge goose is massive, I thought they blew it up a bit in the movie, but looking at those pics, even the sr71 blackbird is big, but the goose dwarfs it hardcore. just aswsome

I've got a couple pics of a Martin Mars water bomber that is stationed on Vancouver Island. Took pics near Nelson BC last yr during fire season. It is as big as the Goose, but has 4 less engines. I'll try to resize them cause they are well worth seeing. The used it last yr in California near Lake Elsinore and made short work of a couple of fires there.

Is it as big as the goose, looks smaller compared to the semi in the back, jmo.

Just a few differences, the Martin Mars is an amazing flying boat in it's own right.

Martin Mars: Wingspan - 200 feet, prop diameter - 15 feet 2 inches, gross weight - 162000 pounds, height - 48 feet, length - 120 feet

Spruce Goose: 319 feet 11 inches, prop diameter - 17 feet, gross weight - 300000 pounds, height - 79 feet 4 inches, length - 218 feet 8 inches

simply amazing. I think their is a russian plane that is massive, I will do some digging in my spare time.

From what I've read, its within 10% of the fuselage (body) size of the Goose. Big diff is apparently in the wing span. If you expand the photo, you will see there are actually 2 semi's in the background, which may diminish the apparent size of the aircraft.

When I got closer on my sea doo, it was apparent that the sponsons (pontoons) on the wing tips were 3 times the length of the sea doo or about 25' long.

Thanks for the actual sizes, I've looked for these comparisons for a while.

Wingspan - 290 Feet, Length - 275 feet 7 inches, Height - 59 feet 8.5 inches, Six ZMKB Progress Lotarev D-18T turbofans each producing 51,590 lb. of thrust.... I cant even imagine the power coming out of those engines (wind speed)

Yah, the Anatov used to come into Calgary on a regular basis when some oil company was hauling supplys to the Ukraine. Couldn't believe the number of tires on it. Amazing.

Wolf, thanks for pointing me to Youtube for vids of the Mars working. Wow!

gross weight at take off about 640 tonnes. Compared to the 747-400 cargo which is one of the most common heavy lift cargo planes at 378 tonnes the Антонов Ан-225 Мрія is a monster at about 70% more cargo.
