Bad deal - alcohol, stupidity, & atv's. The driver was my cousin's ex daughter in law.

Quote from KBS Radio - Nelson

Christina Lake was the scene of a tragic collision Sunday night.
Grand Forks RCMP and West Kootenay Traffic services were called out after a 4-wheel off road ATV passed a vehicle on the bridge on highway 3, and struck a minivan head on.

The two ATV occupants, 31 year old Christy Chursinoff of Christina Lake, and 29 year old Danielle Marie Zychowka of Alberta died at the scene.

Police say neither occupant was wearing a helmet, the ATV was uninsured, and it had no lights.

The driver of the minivan suffered minor injuries.

The West Kootenay Traffic Service, and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.

End Quote.

Driver left three children under 10 yrs. What a shame!

I feel sorry for the people involved, especially the poor kids.... but in all respect for the family and anyone involved in that situation, I have to say that that is real stupidity right there!! Pulling off something so stupid and bang....... dead!

Makes me sick everytime I hear of such a senseless accident, so easy to prevent and so costly not to. Very unfortunate for the children also, their lives will be changed forever. Wish people would consider consequences before an incident takes place.

Well, the 2 women won't be around to set such fine examples for their children. Unfortunate for the little ones left behind though, including the driver of the mini van. Bet THAT image will be with him/her in for quite some time. Stupid....just stupid.

Hey Bigbear, you know nothing about Christy or Danielle so if I were you I would keep my big mouth shut!!! Christy was a good person and a great friend. She was a good mother to her son. One lapse of judgement does not make someone a bad person or a bad example to their children. I am sure we have all done some crazy things in our lives that we now regret.
Christy was a dear friend of mine and I will love her always. Learn the facts before you post something about someone you know nothing about!

I think BigBEAR was referring to the situation rather than commenting on people.

Ah yes arabannie, you are so right...I don't know anything of the two women, so it would be easy to make any kind of comment about the individuals, but I didn't. That is why I commented on the "situation" itself, based on the facts given to us in the story. The facts being....alcohol involved, no helmets, unlicensed quad, passing on a bridge...leaves 3 children behind....these all seem to be rather irresponsible acts. Now, take out "the names" of the parties involved and see what your opinion of the "situation" might be. So I suggest to you, arabannie, RE-READ, before you decide to lip off to others. Obviously your upset and who can blame you, you've lost a friend. If you feel better venting at me, no prob. I got big shoulders...vent away...although, I must add that last I checked, my mouth is of normal size.
My condolences to the people left behind..by such a stupid, irresponsible act, or as arabannie says..."one lapse of judgement".
