I saw a poster at the Co-op in Stonewall with an ad for this derby. I had to look on a map for Chatfield it is about 20 minutes north of Inwood at the corner of hwy 17 and pr 419. I think it is one of those places that if you blink when driving down the highway you could miss it. Anyways the registration is at the community hall starting at 10. Next time I get gas I will try to write down any other info that is on the poster.

This should be a good derby. The following week (not confirmed yet) is normally the Broad Valley Derby. This is another 15 mins North of Chatfield. We had 70 bikes last year and we had a 50/50 draw for the best hand. I think the winner took home $500. Last year the broad valley derby was the day after the St Malo derby. 14 of us went to both derbys, and in the end, noone wants to go back to st malo. great prizes, thats about it. We will keep this updated. I will be going to both derbys.

I agree with Quadnut, the Broad Valley Derby was awesome! More of an organized trail ride with a cook out halfway through. My 6yr old loved it last year and we'll be back! St. malo is more for the spectacle of all those quads than for the ride, but I'll be there too! Oh and I'll hopefully get to Piney this year!

Ok Crew...Chatfield is a small town about 1 hour and 10 mintutes north of winnipeg, taking hwy 7 to Teulon, then proceeding NW on Hwy 17, Driving through the town of Inwood, continuing north on HWY 7, for about 1/2 an hour. The town is located 1/2 mile west of the HWY, population...15 ??? The area has alot of swamps and crownland. The old train track is the snowmobile trail, that starts at Argyle and ends in Hodgson. Lots of area to ride. Now,...Broadvalley is another 20 minutes North of Chatfield on HWY 17. You drive right passed the town of Poplarfield, crossing HWY 68. Broadvalley is located 3 miles West of HWY 17. Lots of great areas to ride too. The snowmobile trail (old train track) goes right through the town of BroadValley, Population...25 ??. No Gas in either location....Look at the map below for Directions

hey, i talked to some guys that will be organizing the derby in St-Malo and they are changing the run this year. I think there going to the Ducks unlimited area ? should be a better run .
QUADNUT
03-19-2005, 10:29 PM
If they do change the run I might consider going, but as it looks I probably will just set up a ride in the Fisher Branch area with few guys. Thats when we have the most fun, just there is no prizes or money to be won, just bragging rights.

Thats some pretty good delivarance country out there and my old digging grounds. :offtopic: I'll try to make the ride.

Registration at community hall from 10 till 3. $7 a hand or 3 for 20 something like that. I don't know how many miles or what they mean by all traffic laws will be followed. Helmets? Passengers? Purple fuel? Alcohol? It will probably be about 40 miles, most derbys are.

I am coming from out of town and new to poker derbies. Can I looked at the map for this derby, but it doesn't give specific directions. Can someone point me in the correct direction about this derby. Someone mentioned that registration is at the community club, but which one is this? I'm not familiar with the area. I would be coming from the Ste. Anne area. If someone could give accurate directions, that would be very much appreaciated. We are six people coming to join in on the fun. Thanks.

04-20-2005, 02:00 AM
Vinnie is coming, went and saw him last week. His boy bought a 750brute and might be there too. He said he has 15 guys from stonewall, i heard 23 from Arborg including the honda dealer whose tech told me to watch for his rubi on Nitrous, 5 from my work in wpg, at least 30 of us local boys from fisher that normally ride together, Lukes from Elie is sending 3 bikes, Fastline in arborg will be there with a 600 demo, 10 from Ste Annes possibly attending. Sounds like there will be a few people. The trail is about 30 miles long, mostly following ridges but you can play in the swamps whenever you want along the trail. No stops along trail for food, have to wait to get back to hall, but off course you can bring your own. Not sticky on registration or helmets or purple fuel. Arborg and Tuelon police patrol that area, but the fisher branch police say noone is expected to bother checking up on the derby. What else to say....thats about it i guess, i will check back later this week, I also plan on doing the Carberry derby too on Sunday, anyone else?

This sounds like the perfect derby to break in a new quad.... I'm in ... Show those local boys how to ride ... Break out the Zilla's . . .he he he
This sounds like a good opportunity for myself to meet some of you guys from Trackshare. What time are you guys meeting? If you see a guy with a maroon Dodge Quad Cab / Off Road decals with a headache rack loaded with an 02 SP700 w/ mudlites on c-series type 5s looking lost that'll be me. Or if anyone needs a ride up there I have a double wide trailer and ramps to load one into the truck, so I am good for 2 extra quads. Just a thought.

Just past Narcisse on the right hand side going north on #17. There is a large brown sign advertising the place....and lots of parking. You can't miss it even if you are driving in the ditch because there is a mini fence in the ditch to keep the snakes from crossing or getting onto the road. Follow either the road or the ditch fence...
I think they are just coming out of hibernation now judging by the amount of vehicles at the parking lot......Just my guess tho. :hide:

This was my first ever spring derby.... I have never ever seen so many quad in my life. There were so many there that were done up, zilla's, outlaws, mudbugs, mudlite's. 589's. etc, snorkled, mod's, and some mean water. Good to see some old country faces, The regulars, and even some other Trackshare members that most of us have never meet or rode with before... And Imust say with talking to a few people there, they heard of and LOVE "Trackshare"...so spread the word...And Yes the 800 Poo's got dirty and preformed very well...The new Chainsaw is amazing ( Hotwheels), and that Brute, Has power, But did not match up to the "Mighty Grizz" in that water hole...I must of been lucky, but the crowded loved the show... But my rad is plugged solid, spent 1 hr quickly to get some of it out, but will spend hours tearing it down to clean it.. All in all, great day and a great ride....Maybe next yr, they will have more miles and alot more mud... 2 thumbs up...Way Up :humbs: ...

Hey guys.... I want to do a run like this soon..... cant wait.....
QUADNUT
04-25-2005, 02:46 PM
It was a pretty good run and a very good turnout. I also did the carberry run yesterday. BIG disappointment. There was a bunch of us that did both derbies and we will not be going back there for a derby unless it is downpouring the morning of the derby and they change the trail to include more mud. the only excitement was thrashing through the first little and busting up a poo 800. broke his axle, which came out and busted the rim, so he had to drive the next 30 miles on his rim, with his 29.5 outlaw on his back rack. that was the most fun. I played in a little water hole and showed off the snorkle abilities of my vinson, but that was about it. The 800 poo with the 3 tires and 3wheel drive made his way through wet course.
Bubbles, i talked to you for a bit before the derby but didn't see you at all along the trail, course i spent some time fixing a spark plug boot and then draining a guys wet belt. I hope you plan on coming to Broadvalley this sunday, should be good also. Now i have to start cleaning the bike after 2 derbies!
