I am posting this a bit early but i got the info first hand today from one of the organizers. There excited to hear trackshare will be there for the ride and welcome us with open arms.

Marchand derby June 4 2005.

This is one of the more favarored derbys of spring.
A mix of both Dry and Mud trails (most dry trails still have water crossing but not usually to extreme) If you only made the fall derby last year the spring ride is like 10 times more fun.

Not official but one of the prizes might just be a set of lightfoot tracks (this is not confirmed but they are working on it)

Location Marchand Park. Simple to find. just get yourself into Marchand town and follow the well posted signs. Trust me you will not miss them.

Do you think my son's 80cc quad will be able to go through all the mud or should I leave him at home.

Good question. I know at the fall derby you would be ok, but i am not sure about the spring. Some of the water levels might be a bit too deep for it. On the other hand i am sure that your son wouldn't be the only mini out there.

JeeperV6

If the Beaver Pond will be a major challenge for a kid's quad. It' usually a couple of feet deep. Depending on the ruts of course... I've seen the Beaver Pond swallow a Grizzly set up for mud a couple of years ago. Otherwise if you stick with the dry trail you shouldn't have too much trouble.

Do you think my son's 80cc quad will be able to go through all the mud or should I leave him at home.

Food for thought People

This year they expect the water level to way higher and ther is already a flood advisory issued for this area this spring. The Municipalities have already setup pickup spots for sandbags and are advising everyone along the sein river to start bagging .

Guess what!!!! Means for some good Mudding WOOOOHOOOOOOOO

Often the organizers have a power-puff run for the less adventurous. We can ask someone and maybe post an answer to your question. I personally wouldn't bring a young kid on the ride. It's not so much what he/she will do but what others may do. Some of these derbies can be a little fast moving.
I wouldn't want to see anyone hurt! Especially a youngster.

Just my two cent worth.

what we might end up by doing is splittin up in two groups the fast group and the slow group.the slower group would have the youngsters and whoever wants to take it easy. just a thought.who knows i may want to take it easy that day as well, my wife might attend and she isn't that experienced and would ride a slower pace.

LOL . last year when we went we took our time too. there where so many places to stop and play in and we didn't miss any but one spot. The derby was suppost to end around 5 and we didn't get back till 8:30, We had lots of talking time and pictures. we where by no means clean when we got home either. That was a fun ride. Nothing like the fall one where things where dry and simple trails. I hope i don't get disapointed by saying this but the spring marchand derby is a reall good one. I remeber it was hotwheels first ride with trackshare and only my second but hotwheels was so pumped after that ride he was shaking in excitment !!

Good though SP

I am sure there will be more then one group. There are so many of us going to theses things that we neeed too split up already. Sucks too be 50 guys on a trail and your guy 50 on the trail at the back. Even look at the St Pirere derby i think we had like 4 groups there already. It will always work out that some people will start early and others later starts. so there will be lots of groups. Just watch the post and see what other people are doing and for the new people you will easy find a group to ride with. everone is welcome.

This year i will book the Hotel for breakfast the whole back room and give them advance notice we are commin in so we all can actually get served and eat if we want. we really took them by surprise last year as they where seriosly under staffed for us. At the breakfast it is a good time too figure out who you are going to ride with. people will find it's just like a natural thing and your off with a bunch ridding. And remember as long as someone knows your there. you will never get left behind !

I really like the wet and swampy rides, but the marchand fall ride was a top notch ride for a relaxing day, beautiful trails and scenery. It was actually a good distance, 80k I think we put on, not much for water, and they closed the really bad part by the railroad tracks in the fall. But a great ride. Sort of off topic, i went on a ride in Cold Lake AB, 750 quads, 85km, and it was a ride similar to marchand, except faster trails and wicked mud and swamps at the bottom of every hill. Rolled my bike down a steep hill (caught it after the 5th flip before total anniallation) and also found a 10ft deep hole in a gravel pit that almost drown me in 4degree temps. But all in all the 13 hrs there was worth it, I also won a t-shirt. I also met up with one guy who lost 3 fingers in a chain/sprocket incident on that ride. And there was the girl who got airlifted out with mulitiple breaks in her leg. Now thats a wicked ride! Cant figure out why it was cancelled last year?????

I would hate to miss this derby but I'm having my Laser Eye Surgery on May 27th. The derby falls into my healing time. I do have an eye check up on the 3rd, I'll see what they say. If I can stay up front of the group and avoid following any groups I should be OK. Dust is the major thing, I'll pick up a new pair of goggles and try to avoid getting totally muddy. I might have to play the roll of the camera man this trip.

Sounds like a good run, I talked to Stan, one of the organizers, he said preperations are going good. I'll be there with a load of Suzis, hopefully the rain's made a good playground for the KingQuad and mud machines. Check it out at the Suzuki tent. I'll be floatin around the trail so flag me down and lets go ridin'.

Marchand derby usually brings in about 400 people, Suprisingly low in my opinion because it usualy is one of the best derbies . Everything from the most beautyful trails too mud, water and powderpuff. Fun for everyone !

Ramco

Well i think there will be alot of trackshare people going out to this derby. Might be a good Idea to start forming your own little groups and decide who you all we be riding with. As we are learning the trackshare group to ride in one big group is getting to be a little impossible and people are getting left behind. What i find to be the best at a derby is groups of 8-10ish bikes. That way it way easyer to keep track of who your riding with, with all the other riders out. That way no one gets left behind. I as always welcome the new people who have never been out with us yet come out and i'll introduce to the ones i know and make sure your ready too roll. We usualyy meet for breakfast before so it is a good time too mmet us. I am asuming we will be doing breakfast at the La Broqurie Hotel like we usually do.
