ok now i know there isn't that many retarded atv riders out there but the 3 i saw on saturday would be enough to make even the most devout rider think that the sandilands fire was for sure started by an atv.... ther were 3 truks all with an atv in the back travelling east on hwy 1 near richer during a particularly busy traffic time when i noticed a puff of smoke and a flash of light at first i thought uh oh someones in trouble but then i noticed a few more....IT WOULD SEEM THAT THESE 3 TRUCKS WERE WEAVING IN AND OUT OF TRAFFIC FIRING ROMAN CANDLE FIREWORKS AT EACHOTHER now i'm no scientist but aint there fire in them there things? like how stupid can people get! not only is it a fire hazard but a deffinate traffic hazard too many what ifs there to list. well sorry if i offended anyone but i needed to rant. i know not all atv riders are stupid but it only takes a few bad ones to ruin the barrell.

iI honestly don't know where we're headed with all the stupid bone headed crap that is everywhere. It seems its great sport to skate board down a railing, slip off and smash the family jewels, break out all your teeth, rush you to the hospital while your buddy records it for U-tube. WTF? Did our parents or us raise a generation of irresponsible morons?

We've all heard the expression "Grumpy Old Men", and I think its nonsense like this that trys my patience and offends my sensibilitys.

For every negative action there used to be a consequence. Well that just aint the case anymore.

X 2 here

In fact that's exactly what I recently did with a drunk driver.
People always talk about what they would do if someone broke into their house or tried to steal their stuff .... this is what you can do on the roads.

C'mon now mongrol, I smashed my teeth out skateboarding, (although it never made YouTube because 11 years ago none of us could afford a video camera!!) & I turned out OK!

It's all in good fun, but sometimes fun really really hurts! It's no different than riding dirtbikes / quads or whatever else really. Whatever sport it is that the younger generation does today, it ends up on YouTube, as video cameras are EVERYWHERE now.

Not sure if you were implying that it is skateboarders in general who are "irresponsible morons" or if it is just a blanket statement, but if it's directed towards skateboarders then that is an awefully similar accusation to those made by people we all dislike so much that say "ATV'ers are all idiots" because of some dummy they saw acting like an idiot on a quad.

I believe he is simply referring to the obvious risks some people take in having "fun", you know the ones - some of the stunts verge that on suicidal ideas - and relating them to the driving down the highway firing roman candles at each other while endangering other motorists !

I think you have to break somehting as a kid just to give you the experience to know what true pain and consequence is....but you don't need to find out at someone elses expense. I did TONS of stupid crap when I was young,a nd a lot of it illegal as hell.....but I made it out OK and seem to be a productive member of society.....but looks can be deceiving.

The point of my rant was just that we take bizzare things that happen and tend to try to out stupid the stupidist. Crapheaded behavior seems to be what people strive for, for some reason. I wasn't singling out any particular actitity but trying to point out how we are starting to behave, with no thought of what you cause to happen or the consquence of your actions.

Here endith my rant.

Thanks movies like "Jackass" and as you said before U-Tube for making kids think it's worth the risk...but your descrpition just sounds like some kids that should take a nice detour off a mountain road.

Regardless of the activity, its hard to describe an "idiot", but I knows one when I see's one.

I have to agree 4MULA. It is not necessarily that we don't think of the consequences, it is simply that you are willing to take that risk. I broke my leg twice, 3 months apart, both times on motocross tracks. I knew the risk with racing, but I was willing to take that risk. Can't live life in a damn shell! LOL (well, I guess a cast is kinda like part of a shell....)

I have always figured that as long as you are not hurting anyone else, all the power to you. However, having said that, the people mentioned in the original post in this thread are idiots for that very reason. Other people could very well have been affected by their actions.

I know I said I was finished, but I think I need to clarify something so the thread can get back on track.

The point I was trying to make, obviously not clearly, was that when we see "Dumb" we try to out dumb it. When I did something really stupid, (like seeing how close I could be to a stick of exploding dynamite) my buddys didn't run out to see if they could really out do me. The reference to skateboarding was only because you see so many clips on tv that we can all relate to.

So lets get back to the topic. My bad.
