I am wanting to head out to mars sand hills for a ride, and find a lot of mention but no specifics on where to unload. Some sort of golf course road, on 317? east or west of #12?
Surely we can provide a google map link :)
also, are the mars sand trails suitable for dirtbikes? I'd hate to get up there and find that it's all 1' deep water canals
Thanks!

yes off of 317. its east of 59. turn at the road to the golf course and there is a sign just to the rh side of the road when you turn. park there and then ride the trails. good for dirt bikes as well.

The trails are fine for dirtbikes. No water. The only place you would have trouble is on the trail up to the brokenhead river, don't even try it. Everywhere else is fine. There is a map on the Brokenhead Trailblazer's website.

trails were AWESOME for dirtbike, lots of single/double track. I rode 100km in two hours and didn't even scratch the surface. Also, CELL RECEPTION! you don't get that in sandilands!
the spot on the map was 30 minute drive from 59 & perimeter to bike unloaded. Close enough for an evening ride, I'd say!

Glad you liked it. I've been on those trails for the better part of 20 yrs, and there is always something new to find. Not too much for hardcore mud, unless you head up towards the river, then thats about as hardcore as you will find. I see you unloaded in the old gravel pits.Just watch out, lots of target praticing goes on in that spot!

If you keep going around the next bend in the road from where you unloaded you will see a driveway on your left hand side (there are two close to each other, it's the second one on the straight part of the road). Turn in there it's a better place to unload. There is a shelter and a fire pit I believe.

Yup, from that spot, go to your right, there will be a trail on the right hand side, just a little ways down, or you can follow that old road, it will eventually take you to the golf course road. Just pick a trail and follow it. Pretty hard to get lost in there.

yeah there were A LOT of shot gun shells on the ground where I parked! I drive a civic, however, so I didn't think that pulling into the picnic shelter area was a great idea. THere were a number of trucks parked there though. Strangely enough, I didn't see another single rider all day, only half a dozen unloaded tow vehicles.
Hoping to get back there soon!

Luv to ride there with the kids. If you see a blue avalanche unloading two Cats, that'll be us. When you hit the powerline head uphill and you'll find an awesome track. All sand. Great for dirtbikes. Too bad the picnic shelter gets so abused. Everytime we go there is less and less boards on the picnic tables. The firepit has been destroyed.
Oh, watchout for horses near the picnic area. They unload there but we've never met one on the trails yet. The partnership trails goes through there so don't be suprised to meet hikers.
Have fun!
