In the market for 2 trail cams, does anyone have one they think works best? or recommend, I'm leaning towards the 'Stealth cam' but I'm open to suggestions.
i've got a moultrie 6.0 cam and i really like it. was gonna buy a cuddieback, but they use shitty media cards, that is something to take into consideration
here is a pic from my moultrie

One of the guys here at work has a moultire. Not sure of the model but he will get all the info for me (price, year, place he got it from, etc.) and I can post it on Monday. Here are a few pics from it. Some are from at night (obviously) and some during the day. He is really impresses with it.

When I did my research last year, I was advised of the same info regarding the Cuddiebacks, so I got a Moultrie. I am quite happy with it. I have a neighbour who used to skulk around the back of my property for some reason or another. I put the cam on flash and scared the crap out of him one night..........I doubt if he has been back there since.
My suggestion........Moultrie.

Has anyone checked out that sniper by stealth cam, looks not bad and i like the idea of a 2'' display on the back to 'field view'
seen and fed a lot of bear, but never took one this spring. We had one big bastard coming in but never got to see him, just a few pictures of him.

what kind of bait do you use? I hear oats and fryer oil work best.. from the guys i know of baiting.
believe it or not, we actually pop popcorn in a 45 gallon drum, let it cool down and bag it. very light to carry in to the bait, plus we also smother it in used fryer oil. in the other barrel is just random stuff that i pick up at a few bakeries.

My dad used to use old donuts and stuff covered in fryer grease. He also used oats and molasses. For an attractant he hung cotton balls soaked with anise oil, which is very aromatic and smells like liquorice, to draw them over a distance. His biggest was 19 3/4 with a bow.
But back on topic. Seeing the quality of those pics is getting me to thinking.... might be time to get a trail cam!

check out monarchimages.ca His name is Jeremy and he custom builds trail cams. He built me one last year to fit my budget and i was totally satisfied with camera and his customer service.

I had Jeremy build me a camera 2 years ago and it works great. I wrote one of the testimonials for his web site (pic of the 5X4 in velvet is mine). Camera still works great which reminds me I should go check it......
I've posted some of my trail camera pics on here before. There's some gooders. Check them out if you can find them, I'm too lazy right now to do it.

i have talked to a couple guys one day in jo-brooks and they had to build cages cause they had a camera chewed, they had one even damaged when they had cages cause the bear stuck his claw in and scratched at the leans, so now they have spikes welded to it. it also help keep them from pushing on it also... this is what i think i am going to do, also a guy would be able to lock it to a tree easier, so that it doesn't walk away on 2 legs...LOL

Funny you mention that. I know of a couple of guys who were out scouting and found themselves being filmed. They took the camera down.....wiped out the pictures of themselves and reinstalled it. I guess they might have been somewhere they ought not to have been..........:nono:

I have 2 moultrie cameras and I swear by them, they have good picture quality and for the price there pretty good. I know they aren't the best ones out there but they do the job. They have lead me to some pretty nice animals.

I hunt south and east of Brandon. It takes a while to scout out really good spots. But I go a little further off the beaten trail than most. Thats what ATV's are for. Last year I shot a bull elk from a treestand with my bow, first day of archery season. That shows what a trail cam can do for you. I hope you guys get those cameras up and post some great pictures of your success.
