Broke d/s rear axle

Any ideas anyone? have a 570 rzr boot is torn, joint is clicking. Is this because of the 2" rubberdown lift or? ..... Was looking at the parts maual and there is a clip on the axle end that goes into the dif, does that mean u have to pull the diff apart to change axles?

Disme will become famous soon enough
Send a message via MSN to Disme
your axle should just pull out of the diff, some times it takes a real good sharp pull or even a pry bar to help.

The boot tore from a stick or grass build up. Then you got some mud, water, dust, etc in the joint. That made it click,. The joint is not as tight as it used to, it has some play and now it clicks under pressure. The lift kit had nothing to do with it.

Remove your tire, remove the brake rotor, unbolt the lower shock bolt, loosen the sway bolt bolt, remove the axle nut, remove the a-arm bolts from the hub. Then have the axle so its straight across, plunge the axle all the way in toward the diff and yank that sucker out. You may have to do this a few times.

Which cv joint in clicking? I'm not sure if both ends can be disassembled. you do not have to remove the diff.

it is the outer joint... it is a very loud click... so i guessing its parked for now. being a new 570 not sure what avalable. parts manual shows it being one piece, no joints available.

Your inside CV joint has a clip along the cup, remove the clip and the cv joint will come right apart. The outside CV joint is held in by a c-clip and this video will show you have to remove the outside CV joint.

You can clean it all up and put it back together, you might be able to save it. If you need an axle I can get you a Rhino one. I'm not sure if yuo can get an outside CV joint. Look for a broken polaris axle and take it apart and use its good outside CV joint.

Well i will try and have a good look at it. Not sure being a 570 that parts are the same off other machines. I will call the dealer and see what they say and the cost of a axle.If you dont mind pm me a price on the rhino axle. its a 2012 rzr 570 (bet u knew that) lol. Can u mix axle brands or do i have to change both at once

You can mix axle brands. I'm 99% sure you can use the axle from another rzr or atleast the outer cv joint off another broken rzr axle.

That is the joy of axle boots have to check them after every ride, also good to check diff fluids to make sure that no water got in or driving without enough oil.

Why are you doing this repair? Does Polaris not offer any warranty?

Thanks! But you mean post #9 right?

You mean to tell me that Polaris would not warranty a failure like that with such low kms/hrs on it. To me that sure does not seem right. Polaris should have warrantied that with no questions asked. Wow that's unreal...I would have pushed that subject until they paid the warranty claim. And if nothing else your dealer should of at least try for a policy claim. Or is this more a dealer not wanting to do warranty on it and instead bill the customer at full retail? It just does not seem right to me at all! I was a warranty admin. for many years for many, many different companies (I think it was right around 25-28 different companies) and that's why I feel Polaris should of covered it with no questions asked.

While we are talking about Tony's 570 RZR, did anyone see DirtTrax TV this past weekend when they did a review of the Polaris 570 Rzr SxS. Dirt Trax had nothing but good things to say about the 570 and how it fit into the ATV tracks, unlike some other SxS that are much wider.
