St. Labre 200
Anyone going to the 4th Annual St. Labre 200?
check it out www.stlabre200.ca Here some info on it: The St. Labre 200 is a “FREE ADMISSION TO ALL” event filled with unique competitions, games/activites for youth and entertainment for all. Unique Competitions: The main event called the St. Labre 200 Race challenges teams to build a go-kart within 24hours. Carts are then each timed individually in qualifying laps as they try to gain the coveted pole position. The 200 lap race ensues as teams try to be the first to complete of the laps on the grueling dirt track. The winner gets bragging rights for the year and gets to hoist the prized Best Sleep Centre Sparkplug Cup. Other Unique Competitions: Excavator Rodeo: Competitors perform a series of tasks with an excavator. Whether it be picking up a beach ball to pulling a small sleigh. Beginners get to try out the excavators while experts get to show off their almost surgical precision with these amazing machines. Rubber Boot Toss: Individuals are challenged to kick off their rubber boots while swinging on a swing-set. The winner of this event is the participant with the greatest distance. Cook-off: Participants are challenged to a fish fry off. Local chefs prepare a fish dish made from local Manitoba fish and try to earn the coveted cook off Queen/King Apron. More Unique and very entertaining races: Carts that participated in this event from the last three years are brought back to life and get to race in three different races: Alumni Race: Where teams race for half an hour trying to gain the most laps. Powder Puff Race: A 15 lap race where only women can compete. Old Fart Race: A 15 lap race where you must be 55 years old or over to compete. For the youth: Youth enjoy watching the carts being built from scratch. Playing in the balloon bouncers is probably one of the favorite activities followed closely by the super slip n’ slide. Entertainment: This years’ entertainment includes two local bands: Hoppin’ Hedges and Bottle Jaw. These two bands are ready to bring the tent down and get the party started Saturday night. Also the biggest fireworks show of the South East will be taking place during one of the bands intermissions. You can expect many other activities when you come out to the St. Labre 200. Camping spots are available and can be reserved at 429-3241. The St. Labre 200 is a nonprofit corporation. It’s mission is to gather the South-Eastern communities of Manitoba in a unique event that provides: 1. Fun for all ages 2. Unique and friendly competitive events 3. An opportunity to support local business 4. A stage to showcase local talent 5. A venue to promote safety 6. An opportunity to give back to the community And offer all this to the public with no admission fee. The St. Labre 200 “Giving back to the community” campaign accepts applications from different individuals, groups and organizations. From the applications the committee decided this year to support three of the applications: East Borderland Community Housing, Treasure Keepers Children’s Centre and Les P’tits Brisous. In the past three years the “Giving back to the community” campaign has given over $15000 to local organizations including: Out of the Blue, Seine River Services for Seniors, Ecole Saint Joachim, Heart and Stroke Foundation and the le Chalet. We hope to see you at the St. Labre 200! |

Well the races are all done. What a awesome event the guys and gals put on. The amount of volunteer work putting this on is amazing. Great job ! Food was great. The events were awesome and the races were even better ! A few wipe outs , no one hurt which is good. They raises a lot of money for charity. The fire works were just fricken awesome. It lasted 25 mins straight ! It was better then some Canada Day fireworks I've seen.
Can't wait till next year. Thanks again to all the hard work the volenteers do. With out you's the event wouldn't happen ! Cheers.

Just got back from there. Helped them clean up some. It's quite the production. This rain is well needed out here but will slow down their clean up progress. Cheers.
