Polaris engines apparently last forever? Or are they sabotaging Kawasakis?

I've got a few buddies with PoPo's and I am now convinced that the engineers at Polaris have designed their quads in such a way as to ensure that the engine will last FOREVER! Every time we ride, a new part breaks or something fails and the engine is given yet another 'break' At this rate if the engine is rated to 10000km it should take only 27 more years before they reach this milestone.

On the other hand, my poor kawi has to tow them home and this is causing premature wear on my finely crafted machinery!

Can't wait to tow home an elk in a few weeks!

If you rode your brute as deep or as hard as most polaris guys do, you would sink more money into yours for parts than the polaris rider does. I've rode lots of them, ride with all brands and for some reason its always the guys on the popo taking the worst routes or deepest runs while the others watch and usually go around. Just MY observation :)

Way more Polaris guys posting here. Must be waiting for parts again! We should start a collection for those poor dudes. No, no, no, not collect money; I was thinking we could collect names of parts dealers and scrap dealers so it would save the Polaris guys some time. I figured as a kawi guy who doesn't have to spend time fixing my quad, I could help out a little.

Here is the first one:

1-800-broke-bike-mountain (Polaris parts cheap!)

Talking

L and S,

I find it suprising that with all the Kawie's popping over the last couple of months, that your talking about Kawie in such a positive manner.

But like everything on Trackshare, "Your machine brand is the best" and "My machine brand" is the worst. And your machine never breaks.

Kawies are perfect, never break or need maintenance, and are without flaw.

Well, I have to run now, as I need to fix my perfectly fine Polaris, and sell it to get a Kawie BF 750.
Almost missed these ones...

Had a friend that sold his 04 sportsman 700 for a bf650. Went through 2 front diffs and a motor in 1 summer. Never swamped it once. Switched back to a Polaris and no problems since.

L&S, Long lead time on parts? I'm confused as I don't have anything on order. Do you mean used parts? Maybe then I understand you as there are no Polaris machines like mine getting wrecked, so no used parts are available for me.

Interesting though, parts for yours are easy to come by.Hooray!
http://www.trackshare.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62881

Is this what your meaning by this? If so you clearly have me at a disadvantage!

Your welcome on the research it didn't take me long (commercial on the TV), I have googled the BF series machine and found LOTS more about it.

If you like I could share the recall with you and some other things?

Would hate to hear anything happening to you on your Elk hunting ride.

I truly don't think owning a K BF is going to cheer me up. Considering my 2 Polaris products have done so well to make me happy. By no means am I saying that Polaris is perfect.

But wow, those K BF's have some issues, don't you think?

but hey, maybe you didn't know about them at the time, good salesman I guess.

Lots of parts available fast though, and good for you for pointing that out!

Let the Good Times Roll!

Doesn't matter what you own. There's one thing I've noticed watching my friends change brands because what they had was a "piece of sh*t": it doesn't matter what you own, if you're going to drive it like a raped ape it's going to break down eventually!

80% of problems are created by a combination of the changes we make to the original (stock) design of the machine and how much control you have over your throttle thumb. Leave it stock and drive it like a little old lady and you'll probably never have problems with any brand of machine!

10% is factory defects and the odd "lemon". These things just happen, that's why there's warranty. If it happened long past the warranty period, it probably isn't a defect in the first place and there is a reason it happened.

The other thing that get's overlooked is lack of maintenance (bringing us to the last 10%): "My machine eats belts like crazy". Do you just keep putting a new belt in, or have you ever serviced the clutches? "The motor went before I got 2000 miles on it". How often was the air filter cleaned if at all?

We live in a world where there has to be blame assigned for everything and no one will stand up and take responsibility for their actions (or lack thereof). Machines are easy to blame because they can't talk back. Bottom line is, you will get out what you put in. JMHO.

I agree. Strange how some guys machines run forever while other fellas can break em all.

This thread wasn't started to improve anyones intellect. It started out as a good natured peeing contest. Time to put it to bed before.......

But wow, those K BF's have some issues, don't you think?

but hey, maybe you didn't know about them at the time, good salesman I guess.

Lots of parts available fast though, and good for you for pointing that out!

Let the Good Times Roll!

Hey there shoe. Not too sure where you lost your sense of humor sooo........Here is my experience with polaris bikes. 1.Been on 5-6 derbies and towed at least 1 of them home EVERY TIME! 2.My neighbors has been to the shop for warranty three times and still doesnt run after -5deg. 3.another buddy had so many problems with his that polaris actually BOUGHT IT BACK! 4.Same guy has had several problems with his new polaris bike. 5.My neighbors buddy bought a rzr and hasn't managed to put 1000km on it yet due to breakdowns. 6.The only polaris bike that I personally ride with or on that hasn't been broken down is another buddies ranger. In my group, I go first into everything, I go the deepest and ride the hardest. So far, I've always driven home. Maybe I got lucky with my kawi and I truly do feel like i've been blessed with an exceptionally good quad.

This thread was about having fun, which u r obviously against. How about the next time you just pass on the opportunity to be a clown?! Yes there are lots of kawi parts but im guessing there are polaris parts available too? If that recall is for an 08 brute i'd love to know about it. I am sure that polaris has never had a recall tho eh?

On the other hand; IF that really was your sense of humour, I'm sorry that I missed it.

Personally I would love a can am because I like to as fast as possible but in the mean time my brutus will have to do.

L&S,

Not sure I lost my humor, did I? I was playing along by being dumb with just a hint of sarcasm. I guess more dumb and less sarcasm next time. :)

Really a bummer to hear about your Polaris experiences, as my experiences with a buddy's Polaris 500HO is what led me to my Outlaw 525. It had it's flaws like other machines, but were well documented, and I tuned it to avoid those issues. With that positive experience, I got the 570. So far so good! I do read about issues with them, and correct it to avoid them.

I'm not against having fun! Guess I had a day and got rubbed the wrong way and misunderstood your posts. Went sarcastic, instead of my usual goofy.

If your ever out on the trials in my neck of the woods, let me know, I owe you a beer.

While your drinking it though, I will tell you how much I love my Polaris.......LOL... So drink fast!

Hard to pass up being a Clown, ask my buddies! Yes, lots of Poo parts but not for my rides. The recall is for the 05 here is some info http://www.kawieriders.com/forum/kaw...0-recalls.html not trying for Sarcasm.

Polaris has had it share of recalls, as the other brands as well, thats for sure! Fit and finish are not like the others, agreed.

I like going as fast as possible too, but I just can't fork over the cash for a Can-Am, So I will stay on the tight trails with my Wolvy 350, and pounce on bigger game!

Have a good one,

Shoe.
