etrex vista hcx problem

So I loaded topo canada and ibyscus into mapsource and then loaded each onto my vist hcx separetly and had all the info on the unit. I shut the unit off and the next day I turned it back on and there was nothing but the base map. I went into the map section to turn on the maps and it was empty. I checked the sd card and it has all the info on it but for some reason the gps isn't reading it. What am I not doing right?

could my sd card be too big for the unit? I have an 8gb card and it doesn't seem to read it.

Could be, as some of the "older" models recommend a 4GB maximum card size. Are you running the latest firmware? If not, update it and see if the problem persists. Beyond that, try a smaller card if you have access to one.
