I have an 04 comp g. Bought it new. I love the engine. They're not high revvers but you won't find many v6's with that kind of low end torque. At 35k in first it will still chirp the tires on new pavement.

I used to work at a GM dealership so here is what I know about GTP's. Engine wise about the only thing we really did to them was oil leaks like valve covers and oil pans(big job the oil pan) so just look at those. I used to do transmissions and I found that at around the 200k mark or higher, if they have had the boots put to them lots, the forward band in the transmission would have the anchor break off and lose all forward gears. The anchor is oven brazed on. Not a for sure thing happening but was not uncommon to see come in. Earlier than 2002 were also known to need pressure control solenoids in the trans but that was fixed in the 2003 and up years. Just some FYI.

Trans seem caus trouble. Cooked 2 in the g/f's car. Factory one went at 240k, put a used one in and it went at 300k. Motor was rock solid. Throw the stupid plastic engine cover in the shed. We had it vapour lock sever times untill I threw it away then no issue.
And the drive coupler in the super charger wears and they get a "rattle" at idle. You can pull the blower belt and it will run at idle, to see if the coupler is making noise. Its a cheap and easy fix. And change the blower oil, gm only for the oil, and it is the worst smelling thing ever, trust me dont smell it.

Awesome on fuel highway cruising these cars, pretty comfy ride, struts and mounts are always banging, even shortly after new struts, mounts.

We cash for clunkered the car on the new mustang. But I looked for a good low mile GTP to replace it but everyone that had one was on glue, wanting over 10g for one.

There is an alley key screw on the snout of the blower that the pulley is on. Oil should be to the bottom of that hole. Gm sells special oil for that purpose.

There is no drain. You will have to suck it out. And old clean hand cleaner pump works very good for oil. fits right it.

I owned an 02. Its the only vehicle I wish I kept. I still dont think they have made a better more well rounded vehicle. Comfortable. 38mpg Balls to no end. Tons of room. Owned from 60k to 140ish k never ever an issue just oil changes and reg maintenance.

Thinking about selling what replaced it and finding another one. Worst mistake ever.
