Winch Switch

Where can I get a winch switch (not sure if it is called that) for my Warn Winch that came from factory on the outlander XT?

It is not the switch on the handle bars. It is the switch or relay whatever it is called by the right from tire that the winch wires run to from the actual switch on the handle bars.

When I hit the switch on the handle bars I can hear a clicking in that little black box...

Thanks, Shane

yup.... that black do-bopper is called a winch relay.

Could go OEM / could go aftermarket.

Before you replace though worth a few seconds and cheap taking the connections off one at a time and cleaning up the connections to see if that makes a difference. Often just bad connections. Worth while doing the connections at the winch as well using a liberal amount of di-electric grease a couple times a year.

Fire is on a distinguished road
if its clicking the relay is engaging so like Boakley says you have a bad connection at the relay or no power coming from the battery. Or even worse a burnt out winch.

Check that you have 12 volts at the 2 terminals coming from the battery. If you do then push the winch switch and see if you get 12 volts on the other 2 terminals of the relay. If its good there check at the winch.

Thanks I will have to check it out...

I had pulled my winch out before and cleaned it all up put it back in and all it would do is click... I got pissed off and pulled it out thinking I may have screwed something out then one day I hit the winch switch and all it did was clicked so I started investigating and found that the clicking was coming from the relay...

"tha dude" I will clean it up and if it doesn't work I will PM you about yours!

Thanks, Shane

Can get you a SMOKIN deal on a 3000lb Smitty built. Comes with all wiring, fairlead, relay, switch etc. Put one on BRUCE'S old 400 this spring and he likes it over his 2500lb WARN.

I had one fail on a Viper winch a few years ago.....installation error....and checked at a dealer near Wpg who sold Warn. Switches appeared identical but he wanted close to $100 for his. I called Motoalliance and had one shipped for about $10 plus shipping. total about $25 and when I opened box, they had sent me a spare.

I can't say they will all interchange, but I'd sure check with someone before spending the extra $$ for Warn replacement. If you happen to be in my area, I should still have a couple spares, somewhere in the grudge.
