Great option for anyone who has experience hunting and has procrastinated about getting a hunter safety certificate.

This year you need that certificate on you when you're out hunting because if you encouter a CO they will ask you for it.

I got mine online a few years ago. It was so convenient, still need to find time to hunt though.

Can you show me where this is in the regs? I know that this year you need it to get a hunting license, but until now I had not heard that you had to have it on you when out hunting.

Sure. It's in the guide too but if you want the legal reference here it is:
http://web2.gov.mb.ca/laws/regs/pdf/w130-128.07.pdf

Section 5(1) requires you to have a H/S to buy a license (that has always been law but procedurally it's not enforced at the vender level).

5(1)
No person shall apply for or obtain a
hunting licence unless the person is 12 years of age
or older and holds
(a) a valid hunter education certificate; or
(b) an equivalent valid hunter education
certificate from another province, territory or

country.

"Possession" is not defined specifically but Section 5(2) essentially requires you to have it on your person while hunting.

5(2)
A person who is required to hold a
certificate referred to in subsection (1) in order to
obtain a hunting licence must
(a) when hunting under the authority of his or
her hunting licence, have the certificate in his or
her possession and produce the certificate upon
request from an officer; and
(b) at any other time, produce the certificate to
an officer as soon as possible after being

requested to do so by the officer.
