zoneing floor heat

anyone know where a good website is or can explain how to properly zone a floor heat system? And where to get the zoneing valves. This will be a 3 zone system off a wall mount boiler.

Try contacting Delgaty on this site. I believe he runs a business designing and installing in floor heating.

Skippie will become famous soon enough
It's a pretty simple concept. Rule of thumb is you want to have similar sized zones all with similar exposure to the exterior of the building. Run your first loop to the exterior and work your way in. I have run loops as close as 8" and as far apart as 16". It depends on what you are doing and how even you want/need your heat.

When you buy your system they will quite often draw up a diagram for you based on your application. Try BA Robinson. They should also have the materials to properly zone your floor.

Its not that simple...There is a science behind it. It depends on what size line you have...1/2" 5/8", 3/4", etc...then size of the pump to push it around...are you having a closed loop system with a glycol water mix or open loop hot water only? Typically for a 1/2" your zone should cover no more than 250sq ft at 12" on center. Do an outside loop for sure if you can...then interiors.

Is this a concrete garage? was it insulated under the slab and on the sides?, etc etc.

I had a website I used..but most reputable plumbing shops that are in the business of in floor heat have designs they go with.

Good luck
