What's missing?

Personally, it's not "fad" just to say you have one. I have one because I need one. Can't always be on a computer, and I get emails from work all the time. Thus, iPhone is handy. Not to mention browsing these forums, watching movies on long trips, etc.
it's not a "fad" they're useful devices.

iPhone was the best thing for me. Use to carry a calculator, old phone, dBase organizer, camera, mp3 player; now it is all in one & with a cool dBase app and a few mouse clicks I have a 2000 name contact list with all my customers from the last 15 years and the info I need + Internet etc. Lots of times I dont't even turn on my house computer....like right now. Not a fad here, I have an iPhone4 and it is more than enough for me. LTE would be nice for tethering, but SK is about a year away from offering that in my area.

PS. Sound like 50 % of your company hates change. Lol

Missing the point. The phone isn't that bad, it's just nowhere near the phone it was talked up to be before I decided to try one. I don't find it that amazing, that is all.

As a phone it's probably not special, I assume a Ferrari isn't special doing 40km/h to the store either

My iPhone allowes me to.....

Stream movies, pics, media to my big screen tv wirelessly

I can enter stuff in my calander and it adds it to all calanders on all apple products in my house

After the bomber games I use it as a radio and listen to CJOB and also record the program

It's my gps for going geocaching

Its my range finder for golfing with all the courses preloaded on it!!!!

It's my flashlight when I need to see in the dark

It's my wifi for the whole house as I can't get acceptable Internet where I live

It's my computer for Internet and email allowing me to write word and PDF files

It's used as a camera to document damages to product and emails it right away

Allows me to Skype or FaceTime with people

Allows me to find restaurants and local attractions in whichever city I'm in

Allows me check in for my flight ahead of time

I can buy crap on eBay or kijiji

I can scan a barcode and see what exactly that product is.

It allows quick access to social media

And there is alot more.

It's the swiss army knife of electronics.

so what makes it different than any other "smart phone" ??
I think all he is saying is the iphone doesnt really give you an advantage over some of the other nice smart phone out there. different phones have different features but they all seem to do the same things. my 2 year old BB does all of this other than face time.
not sure why the craze over the i phone either - probably would be my next phone though seeing as mts doesnt seem to have any other options right now

No free time. Point was it allows me to do everything without having multiple devices or laptops.

Some people are BB fans and some are iPhone fans. I had 4 of the latest greatest BB's before getting the iPhone 1.5 years ago. For my use the BB's were horrible! The first month was fine then after that it was a regular ritual of
Popping the battery out to reboot
Having to delete photos, videos or apps because I ran out of memory.

Also unless things changed in 1.5 years, the BB also doesn't provide wifi. Yes I could hard wire tether but I'm talking about pure wireless wifi allowing all my products (laptops, game consoles, tv's to hook up
Also the BB wouldn't allow me to stream to my tv. Sometimes I get folders of photos for review and it's easier to look at them on a 100" screen than a 3.5" one

Smart phones have made our lives easier and more difficult at the same time. As for smart phone vs smart phone.

I've had BB, android and iPhone and for my needs and uses right now the apple products are far more user friendly and productive.
So based on my requirements yes I feel that the iPhone is superior to the rest.
For someone else's use it might not be.

No I didn't have the cheap ones, it's go big or go home with everything I do. Gotta have latest and greatest.

I think your getting the whole wifi thing mixed up.
Yes my BB's had wifi allowing my to log onto wifi spots and use their intetnet Instead of my data

I'm referring to iPhones hotspot allowing you to make Internet for others to use.

It does have mobile hotspot service now, but I prefer to not pay $20 a month extra for it. Instead, one time purchase of tether software, connect it up to my laptop and have my laptop act as the mobile hotspot instead. I personally will take the $250 a year I save.

And this is the key right here. It depends purely on the individual and how they use technology. For me, if the phone doesn't have native USB mass storage mode, it's a non-starter. Unless something has changed, I don't think a non-jailbroken apple phone supports native mass storage mode.

I'm not into the whole "there's an app for that" thing on ANY platform. The microtransaction model is no substitute for basic functionality to mer personally.

I give credit where it is due. apple has made the smartphone clean and simple, but for some of us simplicity comes with restrictions which prevent the technology being used the way we want to.

But yes as I said - purely based on the individual.

That's great that they finally offer the hotspot option. It was a long time coming IMO
Did a google search and found they rolled it our jan 2012 with their 7.0 op system.

As for the external memory with the apple products, just get a wireless wifi hard drive ( the size of your phone) leave it in the laptop bag and bam!!! Couple hundred GB of extra storage.

Ok. I'll make it simple with the little things that suck. When I'm in a conversation texting someone, and I have to do something other than reply, and stay in the conversation screen with the person, it won't ring again if an when they send me another text that I can't get to right away, therefore causing missed texts....blackberry would ring regardless what screen your in. Now is this technology, when 80% of people are using this phone for texting? Hopefully I'm missing something, but I have many smaller things that I have come to notice missing on this phone that puts it way behind in texting alone, which millions of us do every minute of every day. Lol.

pizalm will become famous soon enough
Jb my iPhone won't full on ring when I get a reply while in the convo but makes the same noise as it does when it sends. Not as loud which I prefer.

The only thing I dont like about my phone is the ringers aren't loud enough. And the effing silent switch. It gets bumped all the time and I see no reason for the switch to be there.

And edited to say, sent from my iPhone. Lol

lots of times notifications are in settings and difficult to find. one thing about my android phone is the huge amount of customization I can go within the phone. I can be on a call, and have my text messages vibe the phone, ring, keep reminding me of unviewed messages during the call, etc. same with emails or facebook notifications. Now some of this call all be overwhelming, and that is where the iphone seems to have the simpler setup for settings and general operations. What is good for some people is not good for others. The prez of our company hates his iphone compared to his old BB. But lots of his time is spent traveling, and he can get 100-200 emails daily. He prefers the BB because he says it is a better business minded phone. I tried a BB and didnt like it at all. I tried the Iphone, I have friends and family with them, and they are a very good phone. crisp screen, great photos, nice features. But since I have been an android customer for a few years, I will stick with it. I have oodles of new choices of phones to pick from with different sizes, specs, features etc....not just one model like apple. I do recommend going to a store like Best Buy that has phones on display that you can play with. I cant stand going to our local telus stores and they show you a dummy phone with plastic fake screen and expect you to make a decision based on the spec sheet and what it looks and feels like. For those who like Iphones, they will love the 5 I am sure, and in time they will work out the bugs with the maps features. It will only get better. Of all the smartphones BB seems to have the best call signal, that is my single biggest beef about the 3g reliant phones.

I recently bit the bullet and finally said FU to MTS and Blackberry and switched to Rogers and the Galaxy S lll. I know I will have a bit of a buyout fee from MTS but with what I'll be saving month to month with Rogers it will compensate for that and then some. I have had two Blackberrys since 2009 and the latest one I had was the BB Torch. I got it last September and within this past year I had to get the phone replaced 3 times and the battery replaced 4 times just because it was such a p.o.s lol It was terrible and I need a phone that works ALL the time…not sometimes. I have an Ipad and LeCaptain has an Iphone 4S which I know he isn’t too crazy about. I know the Ipad is alot like the Iphone in how it looks, operates, etc so I wanted something different. I checked out the Galaxy and was sold! I have heard so many great things about it and so far I LOVE my new phone! I am a huge fan of apple products but the Galaxy really is amazing. So user friendly, set up is a breeze and the Screen resolution is incredible. I really can’t say enough about this phone! That's my two cents for anyone considering a new phone and debating between the Iphone 5 and Samsung Galaxy

p.s. the whole process of switching from MTS to Rogers was so simple too!
