My Equinox Snowcoach refinishing/modifying

Further to the thread started by Ice Man 650 (http://www.trackshare.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56641) I have finally got at redoing the snowcoach I bought used for the kids. After removing the capsule and stripping the frame apart, I've cleaned all the loose paint and rust and repainted all the pieces. I wanted to have the ability to tow my gear sled behind the snowcoach when necessary, so I welded up a rear hitch to the last crossmember and braced it with matching 1" angle. I also wanted to be able to fold the hitch underneath itself to minimize the overall length in order to be able to fit it across the end of my enclosed trailer. I exchanged the front two bolts for two coarse thread bolts and wingnuts. I drilled each and added a hairpin to ensure the wingnuts wouldn't come loose. After sizing up the freshly sprayed components I decided I couldn't bear to use the old rusted hardware and purchased all stainless steel hardware to assemble with. I've attached some pics for your viewing pleasure!

Yes and no. I didn't have the capsule with me when I redid the frame and therefore didn't realize that the seat actually sits below the frame putting the braces I added for the rear hitch in the way. Of course this was discovered on a Friday evening Enroute to the camp with the family, so out with the grinder and hacked them off.

I used it for the rest of the winter as is and it worked great! Kids love it! Had our baby in his baby seat strapped in with 2 toddlers and an adult in the snowcoach, myself, wife and chocolate lab on the bike, and the weekends gear in tow behind the snowcoach in the toboggan sled. No more multiple trips lugging in people and gear!

I intended on finishing the work on it (frame bracing, heater/fan, etc) this summer but other things took priority as usual. Hopefully get at it soon and upload some new pics.

How bouncy is the newer style with the coil of shock setup? I have the leaf spring setup and man is it bouncy back there for my daughter.

It's actually pretty good. There are three positions you can set the shocks depending on weight load.
