Chicken hunting spots?

Wondering if anyone knows some good spots in SE Manitoba for chicken hunting?

Also, what's the scoop with hunting them in places like Sandilands? I've seen guys out there before, but wonder if you have to get permission from someone if it's Crown land. I know community pastures, you have to sign in at the office. Is there a similar set-up for Crown land? I would also be applying this to deer hunting this fall

Thanks

It might be an issue if your hunting on crown land that someone is renting. It might be fenced and still have livestock in it during the fall/winter. I would think you got to contact to the renter first. They might not by happy if people openly come and go through the pasture with risk of leaving a gate open. IMHO

You don't need permission to be on leased crown land.
Depending on what it's being used for, you may want to contact the lease holder out of courtesy.

I would go by what the crown land is designated as. If its a wildlife management area, you can hunt there in season without permission.

Ya, if the crown land was being used for pasture, I would definitley talk to the person leasing it out of courtesy and to find out if and where the livestock is. No questions there. I was meaning more like Reynolds Ponds area. Not that I would hunt there (too much traffic and activity) but that type of land. Provincial owned, no fences or livestock, etc.

What about places like Sandilands? If it's not a Game Bird Refuge, is there any limitations there?

Also, there is a travel ban in Sandilands in the South East part. According to Steinbachonline.com. Make sure to check with the RM of Piney/Stuartburn before hand to make sure.

Yes there is restrictions in the southeast and hopefully the rain that's in the forcast will relieve the situation and lift the ban.
