How deep is a septic field?

Just wondering how deep the perforated pipes are likely to be in the ground of my septic field? Are they deeper because of the Manitoba climate? I am not having any problems, just curious every time I pound in my snow fence!!

they all are different. depending on soil and frost line. some are not even a foot and sum are 15 feet. just look in ur tank. meaure to the top of divider wall. the pipe will be coming in the tank at just under where the top of divider wall is. also depends on if you have a basement or a house with no basement, a trailer ect. thats just what i know from looking in tanks for 8 hours a day. so go from there. also ask runner on this website because he installs them for a living.

The deepest tha you can dig down to install "any" septic field is 3.25 ft. below existing grade. Now add 2 ft. of rock then the distribution piping goes on top of this, then that piping gets covered with abouts six inches of stone.

Then the rest is top soil cover, so when you are pounding in your snow fence it is entirely possible that you can damage one of the latterals. You should feel hitting the stone first. Thats if you have a stone field, there is litterelly dozens of field types. If you dont have a lot of clay, infiltrator chambers are a cheap popular alternative.
