Ya it is a sad to see the distruction. The forest will never look the same. The town will never look the same. The campground has changed. The trails will take months to clear. Here are some pic's.

It was great to see some club members out there cutting trees from peoples yards. Thanks to Mooseinthemarsh for coming out as well. Glad we got one of the roads open at the Wagon Wheel open.

It is truely heart breaking to see. I've been there before but this time Sandilands forest is hurt real bad. The trails are plugged up and will take months to clean up for sure.

I'm glad I could help Cat Racks.... I just wish I could do more. It's really unbelievable when you see it in person. Pictures dont really show the true magnitude of the devastation.

It is true. The damage can not be explained , you need to see it for your own eyes and pictures only show half the true damage. It is everywhere. It will take weeks and weeks just to clean up one persons yard. New mind the bush around the area. And with no hydro that means people have no water from their wells , so they need to leave just to wash up ! Hydro has been working hard and hats off to them. It truely is unbeleivable.

I'll probably and most likey be out Monday for sure. As for tomorrow well I'm beat. The snow is deep and heavy , moving trees and branches with all that extra weight takes it's toll on the body. I'm playing it by ear for tomorrow.

Thanks B. I'll keep you posted as to when I'm going out next. I hope this snow gets melted a bit more , the trees are covered and it's hard to tell what your cutting. There are many People that need help. I know what I'll be doing the next few weekends. Riding can wait for me. Cheers.

We just got power this afternoon around 4 pm. About 56 hours without. OUCH! And I live in town. I spent the last couple of days pushing snow and downed trees with tractor. Hydro crews have done a fantastic job so far and they're not done. There are still downed lines along 310 going to Roseau, MN. They have replaced a whole pile of poles already. Might take the sleds out for a quick ride tomorrow, just to say I did.

Well as of late last night many residents of Woodridge still have no power. St.Labre has no power yet , and there is miles of lines down there. I'm not sure how Carrick and Badger are doing , I haven't heard from Boakley yet. The hydro crews are going hard but man they have a lot of work to do still. Hydro got the main line into Woodridge up and running and are now doing all the side street lines. Hopefully today they'll get them up and running too. After all it is Thanks giving and now many won't be able to have dinner with their families. It is a very hard time for these folks right now.
Now they are calling for rain over night into Monday lasting till Tuesday. That will help knock down the snow but they say 35 km winds as well tomorrow. Hopefully more tres don't come back down on the lines and damage them again.

Wow, not good.
Comparing the damage in Woodridge to the Whiteshell the Jackpine stands look the same, completely devastated. Our mixed forests faired better but still lots down everywhere. Our power was off (and still off for many) but for the majority between 27 and 56 hours. Now with all of the newly downed Jackpine The risk of forest fire in that jackpine slash will be extreme for the next two years unless it can be salvaged, adding more insult to an already devastated area. |

More trees down than up. Seem most trees broken half way up / lots of widows makers. Not sure how the snomo clubs are going to handle the workload that lies in front of them in the area. Literally in some areas more than 1/2 the trees are broken. Almost every lot in Badger that had hydro service above grade has lost their masts. 203 highway (gravel road) had dozens of trees laying over it on Friday. Now pushed back by the plows. SNowmo and other trails are in terrible shape. |
