Riding in SE

Just got back from the Piney area. It is very sad how many tress have been damaged from the wet snowand winds. Some homes in the piney area are still without power since 11am Thursday due to damaged hydro line from fallen trees. There is over 100 hydro personnel that have been working 16 hour days since Thursday restoring power. If anyone is planning a ride on the groomed trail from Woodridge to Piney or farther east bring a chaind saw. in some places on the trail there is a fallen treee every 10 feet.

VERY SAD!!!

Ya I've got pic's of some trail heads and when you look down them there are trees down all down the trail. And no way to get around them. It's going to take months to clear them away. In most cases I think a big cat or skidder will be needed.

Every trail in the pines is like that in the Piney area. Sno-man has their work cut out for them isf they hope to get their trails cleaned up for this snowmobile season.

I figured that this storm had knocked down a lot of trees onto the Sno-man trails. As a member of the S.E. Snoriders with almost 500 kms of trails to look after, we have lots of work to do because of the storm. Some of it won't be accessible until freeze up. But we will do the best that we can, but it will take time. Like any club, we will have to see how many volunteers we can rally and organize to do the work.

Just got back Lots of people still don't have power I think least of problems are trails WE have been working all weekend to clear roads & access to property Huge amount people trapped with no power no communication most phones just went on this morning the wagon wheel is a disaster area Pretty well every trailer has a tree or 2 on it gonna take lots of work to clean it up .hopefully all the snow melts by next weekend.

Ya this rain will help knock down the snow so we can see what trees we missed when clearing driveways. This weekend I'll be out cutting more trees off of yards and sheds , plus rebuilding some of those sheds. Once people have their properties in order then I'll think about the trails. With hundreds of KM's of trail they won't be cleaned in a few weekends. It'll take several weeknds just cleaning up yards. And if we get a lot of snow early that stays I don't see the trails getting to much attention.

Good thing we have snowmobile clubs. MB Conservation would never get the trails cleaned.

Here's photos of the trails that they still have to clean up by Swan River. The cut wood on the side is not logging, but blow down that's been cut off just wide enough to fit the local trapper's UTV through.
