I don't know if you have any experience with 4 wheel/a type hitch or regular semi 53 footers, but the longer the trailer, the easier to back up. This type of trailer with a short hitch like that behind a longer truck is a tough one to do in an open area.... For me any way, give me a 53 footer or Super B anyday in a tight spot.

That was impressive but the idiot probably had to do that cause he only dropped the logs on the trailer and forgot about the ones on the truck lol.

LOL! That's why he's so good at it because he always forgets the load on the truck!

I came across this video demostrating a mirror for your passenger side visor for blindside backing. The video is tacky but in the comments guys say they work. Looks like it would. I have had to do lots of blindside backing, I would have liked to try one of these when I was driving.

Lol....everyone's an expert when it comes to trucking. Bister is right, wagons are really unforgiving. I've drove for 25 years and those things get the best of me. I've seen guys that are really good with them but I could never wrap my head around backing them up, never mind pulling this maneuver off.

I'm in no way saying I'm an expert, but that maneuver in that video, looks pretty damn straightforward. Back up, crank truck wheels, good to go. I bet I could do it first try.

Some people are just naturally good at things, and some people just naturally sick at things. I've seen guys on their class 1 test, never backed up with a 53' trailer before, do incredibly well. I've also seen some people do incredibly NA lol.

Kinda like parallel parking. When I took my road test, I'd never parallel parked before. Got it first try in only 2 moves.

Lol, look at what he's doing, it's essentially Just jackknifing it, then pulling away.

You know how easy it is to jackknife a trailer? Simple.

Jack knifing a trailer is easy, jack knifing an "a" type hitch behind a long wheelbase truck with a trailer on it, on a cliff and have it go where you want is another story. It's not the trailer that makes it hard, it's the shortness and style of the hitch.

You must have lots of experience with "a" trains to say this is easy.

PS. - that is what professionals do, they make it look easy. Lol

My mistake then Mr Expert....here I actually thought this would be pretty difficult to execute, but lo and behold, another Internet genius has simplified it for me. Thank you for your brilliant insight. Please feel free to post a video of you perfectly executing this maneuver so that I can take notes.

Buy me a truck, and trailer, find a big ass cliff, and I'll post a hundred videos of it. I'm not an Internet genius. I'm not even a genius. It just looks Damn easy to me.

Minot saying that exact situation, with the high chance of death and what not it wouldn't be nerve racking, but the general idea if the maneuver is pretty simple.
