well if the track says 15mph then 15 mph. im sure the rest of it can take more speed but the track itself isnt made for high speed unlike a sled track

track speed:

I run apaches on my Can Am 800 and although they run smoothly at 50 clicks over the frozen lake, I can't see a damn thing due to the flying snow! I've had neighbours tell me that all they can see is a snowball heading across the lake. By the way I've ran them for the last 2 winters with no troubles at all. Build a snowball.

they're tjd cattracks, looks like gen 3. used to be sold by kimpex but now to get parts you have to go through www.tjd.ca. i ordered some new front fixation plates from them last week. they were in my hands two days later, good stuff

oh yeah, and i go faster than 15mph with my tracks. don't know if its safe or not but thats what i do lol

They are the older cat tracks once sold exclusively through Kimpex. Could be 8 years old, but maybe sat around Kimpex and not used until more recently. They definitely go faster than 15 it is a just a warning so they are safe. You will loose close to 40% top speed, have fun

I brought it home today took it for a quick ride in the feild, steering is quite stiff i topped out about 30-35 full throttle ( it felt some where around that ) tracks look like they are in really good shape no chunks missing no play in any off the wheels
I didnt see a tag on them where is it hidden ? the only thing i can find is a peeled faded sticker on the drive sprocket
thank you for the replys

I tried out a couple of atv's with tracks and had the same experience, wore my poor arms out after a short ride, soooooo when I finally bought a new atv I made sure it had power steering. What a difference, something to keep in mind when you go shopping for your next bike with tracks.

Yes Cat tracks are all season , you won't see anything any more for them as they are not made under that name any longer , new and improved are called Xtracks

The should ride slightly above and not rub unless pushed up occasionally otherwise they do not touch in regular use

i've researched these tracks a lot, and i mean a lot!! if you go to http://www.tjd.ca/shoppingtjd/detail...I1OA==&lang=en# and watch the videos for the "xtracks", most of the bikes are running "cattracks". you can tell by the "fluted" guiding rollers that the track runs on. the xtracks don't have those, all their boogie wheels are normal round boogies.

also look at the photos of the "xtracks", theres a lot of them that are actually "cattracks". i guess when they broke off from kimpex, they didn't wanna get new footage of the "xtrack" so they just re-labeled the "cattrack" footage as that of the "xtrack". it makes sence because only the trained eye could tell the difference.

Yes the bottom wheels were geared to grab the lugs, but switched to guides and also the frame is gusseted differently and the track belt is a different length. The new belt is slightly longer so you can not just replace with new track belt if needed you will need an adapter, but unless you cut it you will probably never need to replace it. Also the older ones did not have replaceable bearing hubs, they do now.

i actually spoke to Luc (i think he's their sales manager) about the "fluted" wheels and he said that they could be replaced with regular round boogies. infact they don't even make the "fluted" guiding rollers anymore.

hey pioneer, what version of the tracks do you have?? i ask because i ordered some track clips and the ones they sent me are different then the exhisting ones. seems these have a guide for the track sliders to run against. is this how the xtracks work? if i replace my guiding rollers with round boogies would i have to switch all my clips with this type of "guiding track clip"?

I run Xgens right now, but have run them all. The track clips have nothing to do with geared bogie wheels they just catch the lug on the inside of the track for a guide not in the gear driven section of track. I pick up me new 116" XGen system from the shippers later today they should kick butt in deep snow, will let you know.

i was just thinking that the guiding rollers might help to keep the track from running off the frame. if i eliminate them and change to regular wheels then the new style of track clip with the slider guide might be needed to keep the track centered on the frame.

any thoughts? and sorry for the hyjack KLeptoLee
