More blocked road/trail pics from the SE

Went out to check my trail cam this morning in the Sandilands.
Gambled it would be safe since the area sees quite a bit of traffic on the fire roads and trails, and any downed trees would have been cut/moved by now... so I left the quad at home.
Ended up being a wasted trip as I couldn't get anywhere near my hunting spots.
Took a couple pics though...it really does look like the aftermath from a tornado.

Might have to pick up a chainsaw after all if I want to get my camper back in there....

The snow in there is brutal too. Still over 4-6 inches on the ground in most spots but real heavy and solid. Walked across one clearing it was like walking through wet cement.

Thanks for the pic's. I think that the amount of trees down you'll see a lot of roads or trails not cleared this year. It is going to effect hunting , sledding , quadding and general back country travel. It is going to take a lot of work from a lot of people that's for sure.

So is this the year the quadders and sledders are going to work together and get the trails ready for winter?

After I'm done helping people get their lives back in order , I'm willing to work with any club or group to help get the trails cleared. But I don't see them being ready for winter. Once you go for a ride in the are you'll understand why. It really is that bad.

Well I went out tonight and picked up a saw so maybe tomorrow I'll get back out there and clear some of that.
Actually, I'm working nights all weekend so that might not work but next week for sure anyway.
more pics to follow...

correct me if I'm wrong but don't you need a permit from Conservation to clear trails?? I believe it is illegal to cut trees even though the damage was created by ma nature.....check the law boys before venturing out

Well you can remove deafall off a trail and leave it to the side. But with this amout , that is why I tell people to confirm with the CO's before going to cut the trees as to what they require.

Permits are needed for sure when taking the wood for personal use or if the trees were cut on purpose.

Well I went back after all, and what a mess.
Secondary Fire guard roads are blocked in every direction, the last one leading in to my camera area was impassible even on the quad. ATV trails are in even worse shape with most blocked off right at the trail heads. (Pics #4-7)
The path to my campsite (Pic #3 - if I can even get the trailer that far!) must have 20 or more trees across it.
Lots of stuff to be done in the coming days... but for now, gotta go to work.

Back out there again.
Finally made it to my trail cam, nothing to exciting there since the snow hit.
One more pic of a popular ATV trail in the area...it was hard enough walking down there, it will be months before they are passable on a machine again.

Oh and just a word of caution, when I was walking around my hunting area I heard trees coming down on 3 separate occasions. So some are still falling on their own well after the storm. If you're out hunting or working in the bush just please be aware of any potential "widow makers".

I think most people are still cleaning & fixing their own properties as of now .I will be ready for trail clearing next weekend .Would be great to have huge turnout of people then we can split into groups & several of the main trails can be done at the same time .

Yep got a long way to go before I can help on the trails. Besides that there are people in town that need help to. I think they should come first. Plus the campground itself has a lot of trees down. I think Len and Terry would appreciate the help. There still is a lot of time left in your lives to worry about the trails. Just my opinion
