Duck Mountains / Swan River trail clearing...

As discussed earlier, the Swan River Snowmobile Association along with other trails users on the north end of the Duck Mountains are currently completing a massive undertaking to clean the Wellman Lake and Cowan Trails.

The damage was caused by the June 29th wind storm, and finally the dry conditions this fall have allowed the club to start the cleanup with tools larger than chainsaws.

Here's a link to the club website showing photos and giving updates as work happens: http://www.svsaa.ca/

Here are links to photos. Click on the slideshow button in the links to get the pictures larger and clearer.

WOW what a mess!
My old body isn't up to bush clearing anymore, but if there is somewhere I can make a donation to help with costs (preferrably paypal), I will do what I can

I was riding the Ducks last week. Several trails were impassable due to the wind fall. We cleared many trees along our path but some areas were so bad we had to turn back. A lot of trail in the provincial forest areas had been cleared already and I extend many thanks to those who had done that.

They've added more pictures on the website. Sounds like they have been at it with a bunched and a backhoe for a couple of weeks already.

Saw this video up on www.svsaa.ca

Check out the damage at the start, at 1:50 and at 3:50. Unbelievable what the snowmobile club up there is dealing with.

Yeah friend of mine has a camp off w. Hime and his crew went up bow hunting and from the truck to camp usually takes 1/2 hour he said 4-5 hours and that was with 4 chainsaws working! They are going to need help up there.
