Studding

The main reason for not re-studding is that any missing studs will cause the holes to fill or partially fill with sand, stones & dirt thus not entering at proper depth. Also, the tread depth diminishes & the studs extend out too far as well therefore will not stay in tire nearly as long.

reminds me of an episode of the simpsons. the monorail one. there deciding on where to spend the money and marge says fix main street cause its full of potholes. next scene you see homer with a huge piano on the roof of the car, middle of summer with tire chains and he says "Woo look at the pavement fly" lol so funny

IN MB studded tires can be used only between Oct. 1 and April 30. The studs must be composed of metal and have a tungsten carbide or a ceramic exposed central core.

You should always stud all 4 tires on fwd or rwd vehicles. The reason for this is in case of a skid or sudden braking, the vehicle will respond as close as it would on dry pavement in summer(within reason of course). The chances of recovering from any skid with all studded tires is significantly improved.
