Trail clearing pics....

A few days ago my husband and I took our new saw and headed to Seddons. We drove down the Betker trail. At first there was the odd tree on the trail. Although someone had cut wide enough to make a path for a quad to fit through,we cut some more to make it wide enough for the groomer. We thought the trail didn't seem too bad...until we turned a corner. There were trees on top of trees. The people cutting previously seemed to have given up and found a pathway around the debris through the standing forest. So the cutting began.

What a workout! Hubby cut and I threw, pulled and pushed or did whatever it took to get the debris as far into the forest as I possibly could. Well of course he didn't just cut, lol. I have yet to have him train me on the saw, but when we get our other one LOOKOUT EVERYONE...CRAZY WOMAN WITH A CHAINSAW...RUN!!! LMAO! Anyhow, fours hours later we had about 1.5 kms cleared. I was shocked as it felt like a lot further until we clocked it. It wasn't like we had to clear that much, but I'd say at least half was covered in trees. The next corner looked clear for a ways and our bodies were telling us it was time to quit so home we went.

There will be quite a few areas that will be inaccessible until freeze up. It will be a lot harder when the trees are frozen to the ground as it gets colder and snowier. We hope to get out Monday or Tuesday so if anyone knows whats been done this weekend please post so we have an idea of where to head next. Hopefully once one territory is done, people will head to the other areas that need help.

If anyone feels they don't have much time to give, I must say, a lot can be done in a few hours by a few people. Look what I did and I'M A GIRL!!! So don't be discouraged if all you can give up is 3 or 4 hours. One saw and two or three people gets quite far so I can only imagine what can be done by a large group. If you want to get out and volunteer some time, but don't have anyone to go with just PM me and I can let you know where we are heading that morning. This week we only have Monday and Tuesday and make the decisions the morning of.

Here are some before and after pics, not that they do justice at showing the extent of the damage.

Nice work! I'll be out tomorrow in the Sandilands but after I see how things go I'll probably have time this week to help out if anybody else is going.

I'd be good for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday next week and then again Sunday. My saw mount is on order so I wouldn't bring it unless a SxS wanted to carry it for me.

JG...........pm me if ur going Tuesday morn.......I can meet u pretty much anywhere and have all day !! I hope to ride these trails this winter.
