Ok I can see the issue about the after market 2up seats but whats the deal with leaving a hitch in the receiver? I haven't heard about getting a ticket for that. What's the ticket for? I can't think of any reason why you would get a ticket for that.

I've heard a few times that leaving the receiver in can get you a ticket - I'll ask my cop friend what the reasoning is.

Personally, I think every vehicle should be required to have a hitch installed for the winter to make it easier to pull someone out of the snow.

Me thinks that there is more damage done when the hitch is installed. Bumpers are meant to give a little but if you were to slam in the back of a truck with a hitch installed it will increase the damage to the vehicle. Plus they are hard on the knees when you forget to remove the hitch and ram into it!!!

I'd think having a hitch installed would lessen the damage because you're not hitting it full on - you'd hit the hitch before the bumper. Depending on how hard you hit of course...you'd have a small hole versus an entire broken bumper

good guess and makes sense but...... "recievers in" is a topic that comes up every few years here.

There is no law / legislation that says you can not leave it it.

HOWEVER there is legislation that says you can not block from view your license plate. So as long as the reciever (or snow on the bumper or bike rack or anything else) does not block the view if the plate then you are good to go with it in.

So if you ask your local RCMP/WPS or "other" and they say ILLEGAL ask them why do they think it is illegal??..... the reason will be not because it is installed but because it blocks the view of the plate.

sorry... off topic from 2-up on single designed machines not being targeted hard (like our new cell phone law also not being targeted but still worth $290 if WPS decide to write a ticket))

I think what he means is that it increases the damage to the other vehicle not your vehicle with the hitch. A bumper will somewhat distribute the weight of the impact where a hitch will not and will create a hole or dent much easier to the vehicle that hits you or that you hit.

nope, you should see how bad they bend frames on vehicles when they get hit!
