I have'nt seen anything the last 3 evenings I've been out. I'm guessing it's the full moon that has turned them nocturnal. I'm hoping this weekend they start moving again.

I went out south of Marchand Friday afternoon and early this morning and only saw 2 does on the first day and nothing today. And so ends my muzzleloader run for this year. Going to have to wait until rifle starts now! Good luck to everyone else in muzzle!

had a big one come in grunting yesterday but 4 friken does in front of me chased him away before i could get a clean shot.....and never made it out today due to a late night party that got me home at 6am! but a bud of mine nailed a nice wide 4x4 from one of my stands! it came in to him as he was rattling and grunting!

Seen the biggest buck I've ever seen on Sunday, was sick all weekend but decided to go for a 15 min walk out jeans and a jacket with the muzzleloader and he was with a doe walking didn't have my range finder so didn't shoot. So Monday was a f*** work kinda day and sat out there 6-6 yesterday and didn't see one piece of wildlife.

Here is my first Muzzeloader deer. I tagged him Sunday evening, it was some of the toughest countryside I've ever hunted and what a tough drag out, but makes for great stories. Best of luck to all those still trying to fill tags!

Well here goes..........season started out with a great first day in the field with the first 3 pics being what I watched for 15 minutes across a body of water in a remote neck of the woods.Needless to say,I let him walk,as I hadn't brought the boat but enjoyed the majestic animal's presence!Thought I had the movie mode of him going but since I had never used this feature on my camera before,I had nada.......chit,woulda been great footage.
My next 3 outings produced 2 deer sightings through dense bush with nothing shootable,again.....memories.
Tough week with no sightings, not even a tail........dis-heartening to say the least, but more sign of deer than the previous 4-5 years, with less signs of wolf inhabitation!
Today proved to be a trying day, what with missing a tough shot at a reasonable sized doe early in the day along with a weak charged shot at a nice sized doe at midday, and the full effort at trying to find and track any blood trails that proved to be non existent.
My partner(first hunt together this year as he had different holidays scheduled/a work thingy) suggested we do the "loop" as a last ditch effort of the day.Me being worn out and tired enough to be able to sleep away the whole afternoon in my truck trudged along ,in doubt of seeing anything else as the way my day was going.Partner says go sit at the halfway point and wait for him to push something my way.Well he nailed it,as he pushed a nice big bodied 4 pointer my way, broad side across the trail!Instantly I knew he was a taker, swung the muzzleloader to shoulder, went into my personal routine of my shooting limitations(works for me almost everytime) and fired!I knew he was hit good by the way he cowered down and his kicked hinds, watching as he took about 7-8 strides and fell.I reloaded quickly never leaving sight of where he fell, with my partner coming around saying he saw him head towards where I guided him to my last sight of the buck.Nice deer I heard him proclaim,4 pointer..........I was just relieved to hear he found a nice deer as my freezer was still empty of this years bounty.
Sorry for the garage pic,but he was shot at the buzzer, with maybe 5 minutes to spare.Took us a few hours to get around to an easy retrieval point, a while to gut in the dark, and back out of the bush with trees down everywhere.Sure glad I packed the trike in the pick-up as it made a long haul short easy work.Reminded me of a story I read in the "Outdoor Edge",
"Bucks at the Buzzer",it sure fit this muzzleloader season!!!

P.S. Nice unique buck there Wolf!
Sure wish I had brought that 12 footer I bought from you(on my first outing)!
