It deosn't really matter, but just so you know when people just say to do something but don't want to back it up for me it kinda loses weight, I respect that some don't want to spill the beans online. You are giving me advice but being SO vauge, telling me how to go about this and just to trust you for some reason unknown to me. Most of you are just saying to get a lawyer because it's gonna hurt otherwise, but don't have any evidence to back it up, just, trust us cuz our professions give us knowledge. It's almost impossible for me to believe someone who can't reason with me over someone who can.....jsut saying.

all he did was speed and not stop for a bit? Literally, the ONLY things I got charged with was speeding (57 over) and failing to stop for an officer.

you obvioiusly missed the part about me not qualifying for free legal aid, and also the part about me calling them and them telling me exactly that, that I don't qualify for free legal aid and that if I wanted legal aid to help me (I would be paying for it) I needed to go to the first hearing and get the particulars.

You should sell your car for the funds to retain a defence lawyer. You won't be needing for awhile! I wouldn't put much stock in what the officer and crown attorney told you. They don't have your best interests at heart like a defence attorney would! You started this thread saying you had made up your mind already but still wanted to hear what other members thought. Since then many have shared their opinions and past experiences. Yet you quote some and take offence to others so there is either more to this or it's BS! Either way you weren't smart enough to Stop so hope you are smart enough to heed some advice from some people here!

Anything I say is not meant to offend you but to try to make you see it "thier way" (the legal system)
Keep in mind, lawyers, judges, magistrates, and cops all work together, know each other, have beers at the pub together, and usually discuss amongst themselves what they're going to do with you long before you set foot in a court room. Most judges who see that you don't have any representation will almost automatically set a new date and insist that you get legal representation. They have a very specific lingo and way of dealing with things in the court room, and they honestly find it insulting and annoying to have to slow everything down for you. They will hate you for it, and they will make you feel it, throw the book at you.
A lawyer will take what you say, put it in "thier language", say what needs to be said at the proper time and in the proper sequence, and say no more than what is needed to get your message across, thereby not subjecting the entire court system to your babble. These people have all spent six figures to get the massive education that put them in these positions, and whether they deserve respect or not, they feel they have earned it. Traffic court is one thing, but as someone else put it, you're dealing with the big dogs now. You're just an uneducated puppy and they're gonna look at you and treat you like a complete idiot. You will feel like one when they're done with you!! Sorry I'm being a little harsh, I'm practising for when my two sons get older

Here's some real world advice........
I'm 38 years old and last year was the FIRST year since I was 18 that I paid the basic $60 for my licence. That's 20 years of my wife and kids suffering with the costs of my stupidity as a teen. It's taken me 20 YEARS to work it all away. It's easy to shrug it off now cause there's no one to be accountable for, but trust me, it will hurt later on.
Good Luck! Let us know what happens!!

You've gotten all the best advice you could possibly get online from a forum thats about outdoors. If you want better, go spend a day at remand or stony and talk to actual ppl who are behind bars for their stupidity.

For future, when your gunna run, Make sure its in a car that actually goes fast, not insured in your name, or families, and has a FULL TANK OF GAS!! lol

But good luck with the courts!

Ill see how wednesday goes and to repeat myself, all the lawyers I've talked to need particulars before they can help me they say, so I have to go in once by myself anyway.

I'm not gonna do it again, I've figured out already that just behaving is my best bet. Though I've got the fast and full tank of gas covered, I just need it in someone elses name if there would be a next time.

Well after the first hearing, NOTHING was accomplished neither here nor there. The judge told me to at least talk to a lawyer to make me aware of potential consequenses such as license suspension (that was all he mentioned), so I talked to someone from legal aid who again told me I didn't qualify but that I shouldn't enter a guilty plea today (saying that there's likely jail time, house arrest, HUGE fines, no license, etc.) and hyped the whole thing up. Then when we went back into the courtroom he took and remanned it until Dec. 12, so I guess getting a lawyer will likely speed up the remainder of the process for me so, I'm now actively looking for one.

Why is it that they think nobody can represent themselves.

Bottom line: Job creation, as mentioned earlier, everyone knows everyone in that community. So the judge is just making sure you consult one of their own. And then everyone makes their cut and talks about it at the next ritzie function.

BUT they do help when needed! lol

Good luck and keep us posted.
