I was from the late 80's, dumps, body jobs, fuel, propane tanker, trailer dump for gravel/snow/mud/asphalt, hay, grain, deck, reefer, dry van. Still licensed but not actively driving. Once it is in the blood it sure is hard to shake...

I once pulled five trailers and four converters from Brandon in one load on a Saturday... Top that!

Here is a couple of pictures of the wrecker I drove around 1990. The big new under-lift hydraulic ones were just coming out at that time. This one was still all mechanical cable and cradle. I believe it was 1972 model. It had a 318(?) Detroit 8 cylinder 2 stroke in it. These are the ones that if you stalled it out, it could start running backwards, did that once, scared the crap out of me. They were also famous for 'Running away', they had an air flap shut down on the intake in case that happened. lol

Anyone else use to drive and what? Or part time like myself? Or just for the heck of it to help someone out and get your fix?

I forgot to mention it had that 5 and 4 transmission set up with one in front of the other...that took a bit of trial and error to drive. Now I drive an Auto-shift, much nicer.

I had a 5 and 4 on an old International tandem dump, lots of fun, kept it interesting for those long nights hauling snow. Had a Mack 12 speed too, not sure if it is even possible to shift them without sounding green...?

ahh 5+4 's used to drive lots of them. got good at it too.

new a guy who had his 3406 fire up backward, black smoke everywhere out of the intake.
scared the crap outta him. i knew right away what happened and was LMAO.
had an old 150 honda street bike that did the same thing.
when i twisted the throttle to find out what was going on it dumped me off pretty quick LOL.
i got into driving when i lived in AB, left it to do computers/networks for 8 years.
like JoeCool said, once its in the blood.....
happy to be back on the road.
im not out steady, take my trips, but around home a good amount.
nice mix for me.

I've got a class 1 mainly got it so I could do construction related hauling like lowbedding, dirt hauling and gravel. Spent most of the 2009 hauling sand and gravel for Gee Tee and the better part of the 2010 season. But this year I got back into running equipment again and have work through the winter running excavators. Most of my hauling work has been local to Winnipeg, but I did haul a couple loads of road salt from Rocanville during the 2009/2010 winter season. I'm glad to be running equipment again but some of those trips to Rocanville were pretty decent.
